A frightening amount of them play the Academies here. Even for bands who are still active. In most cases, I'd wonder why people don't simply go to see the real thing instead, but I did once see a RHCP tribute band who were better than the actual Chilis live.

Not hard.

I once saw a poster for a Funeral For A Friend tribute band, and they were called Wake For A Mate. No I dea if they were any good, but that was a bloody good name.

I'm quite proud of FD for being such a bunch of arses to these well-meaning lads, it's why I've stayed here for so long.

Fair play for doing it, and don't want to sound like a dick

But listened to motorcycle emptiness and guitar tone way off and vocally, sorry but got to be honest, substandard

Generation Preachers indeed- i saw many times and loved them, they often played songs the real band wouldnt dream of playing such as So Dead.

As for these guys i wish them well and would deffo go see them if they played near enough to me.

now now play nicely, but 1 post being just an advert probably doesn't engender much on any forum.

I think I saw Generation Preachers in the Olympia in Dublin in about 1999. It's all a little fuzzy but I think they had a set sometime after midnight to a near empty theatre.

I wasn't even trolling, I thoroughly approved! Tribute bands are shit and shouldn't be allowed.
