He means playing without Wayne, or another guitarist, I think.

I've never seen the same level of affection in any other band I know.

Yeah, 3 piece as in no backing vocals or Naysmyth merry-go-round keyboards

It was decent, but not as good as people on here are making out to be! The band are good as a three piece, but let's face it anyone who saw the SATT tour rehearsal vids of 1985, Roses and whatever else was released to the fans at that time was a lot better than the stuff served up to us a few hours ago.

Yes, they were a three piece but James sounds so flat without another guitar backing him up. Nicky isn't the best bassist in the world so it's not like he will do anything fancy to keep interest whilst James is hammering out the same power chords over and over! I am not the biggest fans of Wayne (especially him) and Sean but they do add something to the sound but I would prefer guys that can sing well rather than two apes that are out of tune all the time.

I might have to watch it again but I'm sure TITD had overdubs on.
I mean where did that piano opening come from if the band were a three piece?
I don't care if it was midnight, this programme wasn't 100% 4Real as I've been reading. TITD is the smoking gun!

They were definitely playing to a tape of a multitrack of the original recorded session, you can hear the backing vocals, strings and organ as well in there, and I am sure I can hear some extra guitar (!) too.

Incidentally, if you go to http://www.facebook.com/SEATMusic you can download TITD from there if you "Like" the page (you can quite easily unlike it after downloading, which is what I did!)

I think there was a sampler on display, so its posssible they've recorded the sample's? In my opinion (I make my money from being a sound engineer/being a music technician). Its highly likely its been recorded to pro-tools first, just in case the vinyl machine fucks up. Id be very surprised if the vinyl is pressed in real time.

Of course they used a piano sample - duh! But are you trying to tell me that hearing Jimbo playing without all the other shite around him wasn't cool. Fuck off. Its just like watching them play in your front room as basically as possible. Jesus of course Nicky isn't a great bass player, and indeed Sean is a standard drummer, but it was Jimbo showing you this is how I wrote the song and this is how you play it and here are some fancy trills.

Jimbo sounding flat without another guitar is a load of bollocks. Of course in a arena live setting having another guitar makes a world of difference but my pet hate with the latest line up is that he doesn't play enough guitar on certain songs.
