I have always thought a comprehensive 'B' sides and Rarities collection would be a welcome addition. "Lipstick Traces" was a bit of a token effort really and the decision to include only covers on CD2 was a bit baffling when there were so many good originals to choose from.

knowing how much they love the internet and related technology, perhaps they will release all the b-sides on a USB stick? as for what shape the USB stick should take, go wild with suggestions.

A brilliant idea, on all levels. Maybe not with mp3s but a lossless format would be great ; the cost of production and distribution -hence the final price for the fan- would probably be lower than with CDs. Fans could burn their own CDs if needed. As to the form of the USB stick, I'm sure some of us (me incl.) would be more than happy to participate to a contest about it, although it may take place in another part of the forum

That's a great idea but I don't think there are many chances that it might happen.

Great idea. I could live with high quality 320kbs MP3:s, as long as they actually collect all the b-sides in the same place for the first time ever.

I'd like this as well. Taken me years to collect all the B-sides and i've "made" 7 Manics B-Sides mp3 CDs. I'm not even sure if I have them all.. :-/

i just noticed a lot of other bands offered a USB with all the material enclosed on the lavish box sets, it's presumably cheap to produce and thus possibly a more viable option than a CD release.

probably best to Wizard Of Oz it, mate. get Sean to stand next to a nice big Hi Fi with a turntable and say "let me play the new set on this", which will be honest as they don't know that he is in fact referring to the laptop he has hidden behind it.

Siouxsie & the banshees and The Cure have both had b'sides box sets out so you never know one day we might see it. a Manics one would be a 7 or 8 disc box set for sure

I vote for a bluray release. They could even put the 5.1 mixes of KYE & Lifeblood on there.

Just for the retro feel, how about vinyl or cassette for the release?

I don't think they are cheaper to produce, I think bands do those it's because they're a nice novelty item.

I think if they wait a few more years they can just put up a lossless download collection.

i am no expert in production costs, but 1 x USB stick vs dozens of discs being pressed per set?
