There's confirmation somewhere, but I'm not able at this time to look for it. Sorry, deets! Anyway, you can tell they were written by Richey...his lyrics are very distinctive. |

Although i did write a few lyrics on this album but have never been given the credit for it. If you wait until the final track has finished then listen for about an hour you hear James singing "Deets buy Mafiamonroe sweets every day for the rest of his life or your hair will turn into coleslaw".

I don't have the quotes but in interviews they mention that Bag Lady was in the set of lyrics he gave them. Also if you read them they have to be his really.

It's a shame it was only a hidden track, because WLW is a much more effective closer. Still love Bag Lady and consider it one of the 3 best songs on JFPL. It kinda is THB meets arena rock á la Masses.

It really is a great track. Yeah, weird that it wasn't on the deluxe edition, but oh well.

I think they said they left it off because they wanted to copy the structure of 'In Utero' - same producer and one of Richey's favourite albums - and it got relegated to hidden track by default because it did sound closest to THB, not because it should be considered a lesser song.
It's one of the most interesting songs lyrically - hopefully they'll decide to play it live in future. |

It's a great song. James' voice could have been recorded in 1994.
Why waste it as a hidden track? I've never understood this hidden track business. I like it black and white - either it should be on the tracklist or it shouldn't. And what kicks it this time is that it's a great stand alone song, not a disasterous cover version.

Never understood the point of hidden tracks either.

Yes, this! What a great bass line--I can see it being sung along to, in manner of Archives of Pain.

Really? I didn't realise that. Well, let's hope he's pleased with his symmetry...
