If that had been a record store day release I would have been outside Spillers ridiculously early!

Manic Street Preachers / Motown Junk on 7″!Heavenly Recordings // 11 May 2011
Manic Street Preachers 1. Motown Junk 2. Sorrow 16 Available for the first time on 7” exclusively from the Heavenly Recordings stall at the Independent Labels Market on Berwick Street, 21/05/11. Twenty years on from its original release, Heavenly Recordings issue an extremely limited 7” of Motown Junk, Manic Street Preachers’ first single for the label. 1000 copies of the single will be released to coincide with Heavenly’s involvement in the Independent Labels Market that’s due to take place on Berwick Street, London W1 on Saturday May 21st. Never before released on 7”, Motown Junk was the opening salvo in a twenty-year career that doesn’t really need précising here. Safe to say, it sounds as frantic, as exciting and as vital now as it ever has. Four minutes of wide-eyed, unadulterated speedball rock’n’roll – this is a perfect snapshot of one of the country’s most loved bands at inception point. The single will be available exclusively from the Heavenly Recordings stall at the Independent Labels Market on May 21st and from the merchandise stall at the Manics Cardiff International Arena gig on the same day and stock is extremely limited. Any copies remaining after May 21st will be sold via the Heavenly or Manics websites. |

Bah. I'm not going all the way to London to buy a 7-inch record of something I already have on 12-inch.
And I'm going to Wolves, not Cardiff. But I MUST have it.

1000 copies eh? Now the question is, will the split be 500 in London and 500 in Cardiff, or will it be skewed more towards where the fans will be.
Also, do we really expect everyone to be rushing to buy it? Of those going to the Cardiff show how many are going to be "hardcore" fans who will want this record. I reckon those of us going to Cardiff will be fine, I hope. |
