He was actually really came through for me on Everything Must Go, Australia and Interiors are excellent riffs. Know Your Enemy was a very good album for bass parts as well, i know he didn't do Miss Europa Disco Dancer or Watsville Blues but there are some excellent bass parts on their.

Just thought I'd resurrect this as I was thinking about it the other day.
Can't remember what I voted, but there are some really great moments on Lifeblood!

I feel such a cunt voting for the last option when Nicky's really come along over the past few albums. He even did a bass solo on "Winterlovers" unless that was James again...

I really think that Jimbo has played the bass on all the albums.

I actually propose that the real Manics are a bunch of OAPs that were trying to crack the market by getting younger people interested. James, Nicky and Sean are just a front

It pisses me off how people constantly belittle The Wire's bass skills. He is a genuinely great bass player in my opinion, going from strength to strength with each new album.

Apparently I was the only one who voted 1995-1999! I'd have to say it was the most recent period if I were allowed to change my vote.

I think Nicky has played bass in some form on records since '93, but only the basic stuff. Anything slightly more advanced and James has taken it on, such as with Miss Europa Disco Dancer.

UNtil THB I really struggled to hear any bass in many of the earlier songs. Altough ever since being indoctronated into Joy Division, bass is my fav intrument and I listen out for it. But in the early work with Nicky it requires a lot of effort! How much was THB his playing? I an aware that he's got much better but there is still an issue oh how prominent he is in the final mix. For those of us of hard of hearing from advanced aging turn up the dial!

The Bassline of Archives of Pain is the most memorable one(or atleast the one that pops in my head from time to time), if Nicky played that then that's it for me.
