I honestly don't know so I won't answer.

It's any out of GT, THB, EMG, TIMT, SATT and JFPL really.

Three important albums

The Holy Bible. It's a pure cult album and will be listened to by generations of music fans to come.

Everything Must Go. Depending on how you look at it, it was a glorious comeback for the band and gave them the backbone to believe in themselves for years to come

Truth. In away, this felt like the all important second album, even though it wasn't obviously. For the new fans at the time i guess it was. Many felt really let down after EMG. It sold well of course, but many who bought it, didn't buy another manics album after. They also seemed to become really uncool around this period too. Musically is was beyond bland, lyrically, it had a couple of good moments, artisically and image wise it was a low point.

Know Your Ememy could easily be on here too, as they could have played it really safe on that and maybe got themselves back in with the Coldplay and Travis fans.

I killed the Zeitgeist - it showed that Nicky neither can sing nor write songs. So since that time, his vocal and songwriting contributions has been vanished.

I'd say TIMTTMY is their most important tho, since that's the album that made them relatively big world wide
(while EMG only made them huge in the UK and to some extent bigger than before on the Eurpoean continent).

EMG was important as well, as they carried on with that album instead of disbanding, which probably seemed the
most likely thing to happen after Richey Edwards vanished.

SATT and JFPL both merits a mention too. Both albums put the Manics once again in the spotlight
(and the former in the charts), and with JFPL critics suddenly started to praise the band as well.

Very interesting to see how the new LP will be viewed in say 5-10 years time.

Everything Must Go is probably the most important as A Design For Life lifted the band.
Obviously This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours was the Number 1 Album and had the Number 1 Single but I just feel Everything Must Go was the closest thing to a reincarnation of a band.
Send Away The Tigers was important but the band had already acheived so much success before it.

EMG I suppose.
I also think the last 3 because it is JFPL (the less commercial album I suppose) flanked by 2 commercially successful albums (I think number 3 is successful).
Also TIMT because Tolerate was a hit beyond the UK. I got into the band because my brother played me Tolerate (I think a fair few years after it was released - I think Lifeblood had been released well before - the first album that came out when I was a fan was SATT) which he knew from when it was on the radio, then I went and downloaded some other songs, then I bought albums.
That's too many albums isn't it

Because it has all the 90s hits on one album, and that's what you need to get started. The breadth is IMO more important than any one album. Get the albums when you're more interested.

I'm sure more people got into the Manics though ADFL and Tolerate and their albums than because of FD, it has a poor representation of the Manics with too much emphasis on GT, EMG and TIMT than THB and GATS, it probably shifted some old copies of EMG at best.

They missed their European chance with FD and I don't know why. They play almost solely FD songs on European festivals but here in Czech republic Truth was very know, everyone had KYE at home but I think that maybe KYE was an disappointment for the people and that's why FD was not as succesful as the previous albums. I mean in comparison to its potential it deserved better.
