To be honest I'd prefer it if they abandoned the idea of doing a THB set then a hits/latest/randoms set later, and went back to 1994 style sets where they did most of THB mixed in with other songs, some of those 1994 gigs were incredible. They played all of THB at various stages in 1994 besides Archives and Die, and the energy was immense.

If they won't consider that, I'd prefer it if they played THB in an order more conducive to a live set, rather than in record order. You think PCP first up, then Revol to keep the pressure on

I dunno where all this talk of australia and no surface comes, they aren't overly common as hits in recent years...and we're only talking 6 months or so away...my guess is futurology will still heavily feature.

Primal Scream took that approach with their Screamadelica gigs. "Loaded" and "Come Together" make for a great duo to close a set with!

I'd love them to put some JFPL songs in for next year - seems odd given how well it was recieved, but beyond 2009, aside from Peeled Apples, JCEQT or Me & Stephen Hawking popping up in early dates on the PFAYM tour, they don't go near it these days.

Totally agree, JFPL needs more time on stage, some bits anyway. WLW can stay in the cringe bin. Got the impression that they did the JFPL set in 2009 to showcase then consign. We'll never get Jackie C instead of Moto Emp!

Maybe not over the last couple of years, but they're more on the staples side of things than curios. Personally I love them both so I'd be more than happy to get either.

Interesting idea So what would you prefer as a 'running order'?

Always happens in these threads though, doesn't it? Same with Autumnsong and Kevin Carter. No amount of actual fact or evidence will change some people's belief that some songs are played at every gig.

Australia and NSAF have been played every touring year bar 2014 for the last, what, ten years? Not necessarily on every leg of each tour, but they're hardly rarities.

More importantly, you seem to be implying that there's some criticism of that when there isn't.

Every band has setlist staples.

I've seen a quote from Nicky saying the National Treasures tour was them drawing a line and moving on from some of there older material.

Have they really? But either way, they aren't a common outing when you compare them to the likes of

Tolerate
Design
You stole the sun
you love us
motorcycle
everything must go
your love alone
ocean spray
kevin carter
tsunami
postcards/it's not war
la tristesse/autumnsong perhaps

etc etc. When you've only got a set of 12 songs to play and they already wanna drop in two curios and maybe 2-4 songs off futurology, seems unlikely that we're gonna get much more non-hits.

THB in an order that would work better in a live setting (for me anyway)

PCP
Revol
Faster
Yes
Of Walking Abortion
4st 7lbs
Mausoleum
Archives Of Pain
Die In The Summertime
Ifwhiteamerica....
She Is Suffering
This Is Yesterday
The Intense Humming Of Evil

But to be honest I'd rather it were THB songs mixed in with others in one long set.

Not sure how well played Futurology will be on this tour, some of those songs will no doubt be pushing three years old by then and it'll be 15 months since Europa, title track and Lets Go To War were debuted. It's only taken 15 months to be down to one Rewind The Film song per night, three nights they didn't touch it at all.

Seems like ages since I've seen Australia, off the top of my head I think I've seen it.. four times in five years.

EDIT: Bloody hell, I've only seen it 9 times out of 54. And 16 Die In The Summertimes.
