The question is will the version on the Visconti collection match the one on Lifeblood. Did we ever get an explanation as to why those sessions went southwards? Remember it was a big deal the lads were off to New York to record with Visconti but by the time the album came out, it was like Visconti who?

Greg Haver offers some interesting insights in his interview on the What is Music? Podcast. I think what basically happened is that they went to Visconti wanting a particular sound (Low era Bowie I think he said???), and fiound that Visconti had kind of moved on in terms of his production style (which is fair enough i guess). At the same time, Visconti seemed to feel that they didnt really need him, as the manics and their team seemed perfectly capable of getting the production style they wanted without him, so the sessions just kind of fizzled out, and they went back to cardiff to finish the album with Haver.

Thanks for that, I did mean to listen to that episode but I don't enjoy that podcast so never got round to it. I don't think it helped that it was some of the lesser songs that the band went in with first but I get it. You need a producer to tell you stuff that you don't already know you need rather than aping someone they else they've worked with previously (and Bowie is as much a producer as Tony Visconti). Rather prefer the spaciousness that Greg Harver and Tom_Elmhirst brought to the album than what I hear on Fragments and Cardiff Afterlife.

Greg Haver is on the podcast twice actually, and hes a great guest. Dave Eringa has been on a couple of times too and those are also worth listening to.

There is a Nicky Wire 'page' on Facebook that presents as him talking in the first person, but only using photos freely available on Google and with nothing that really proves its him.

Are people aware of this?

Happy to be proved wrong but it smells wrong to me.

I'm not Alan Partridge. But saying I was, and instead of being an ABBA fanatic I took the Manics route. What would I call my chat show?
Best I came up with was "La Chatessa Durera" but yeah... Can see how he went down the ABBA route.

"Answer After Me".... as in I ask a question and then after I'm finished you get to answer it. There's no repeating here... definitely don't answer my question by asking it back at me.

Definite fake, keeps liking my comments from months/years ago. Apparently has been reported but no action taken.

Anyone fancy a Manics singles from 2010 elimination game? I looked on Wiki and Rosebud and Studies In Paralysis are included but they weren't single singles. It could pass the time away until we hear anything news related? I'm getting old. The younger me would have done this no question.

Go on then!

I guess a precursor game is if you tell us how many there have been since 2010 how many of what counts as a single can we actually name!

Well, let's just say I missed a few. Strange that Resistance is Futile got six 'singles' whereas The Ultra Vivid Lament got only two!

I think the only thing that had a CD single (Ah! See! Sony can release CD singles when they make the effort to promote their clients!) that I saw on the racks was "Together Stronger (C'mon Wales)".
No idea what was on the b-side. No further idea how any of this works these days.
