5th of September at London Roundhouse there's a Mark Lanegan tribute.
Josh Homme and Bobby Gillespie billed. "Very special guests" at bottom. No idea if Manics will be there. Probably should go in Random Music Thoughts downstairs. Hopefully it's another post hindsight can laugh at me over. https://www.loudersound.com/news/mar...0-tribute-show |

In Decline and Fall I have an issue with the (I imagine conscious choice) of the verses before the first chorus having the fall off lines and then the verses after the first chorus being clipped at the end of each line. What is the artistic point of that?

I think at the end of each line there's a sense of despair...

Went to see Duff McKagan last night - surprisingly he didn't perform A Billion Balconies Facing the Sun.
The singer in the support band (James and the Cold Gun) was wearing a Manics t-shirt though, which made me wonder if they'd discussed them at all.

This one:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Manic-Stree.../dp/B06VTHMTG6 The band were relatively youngish looking but also said they were from South Wales. Musically they had some earlyish Manics touches to what they played.

No idea where to post this but looks like Liam Gallagher has confirmed Manics as support for Oasis next summer.
Which is great for those of us with tickets :-)

Seems he’s since changed his mind

He's joking. Until there's an official announcement the only confirmed opener are Cage The Elephant for the American leg of the tour.

Liam is a law to himself on Twitter - although it's nice that there's still a celebrity that tweets what they actually think rather than have everything sanitised and media polished.
I still think he'd only mention the Manics if there is something happening... we'll just have to wait and see!

Liam tweet either Richard Ashcroft or Manic Street Preachers to support.
I like how he hasn't said the magic words. He's at least summoned. So the three headed Manics either materialise or they shred Liam across the astral sphere while appearing the same outwards. Or some shit like that. |

I've been reading the Resistance Is Futile thread. I'm loving seeing descriptions of it cut from the Journal cloth.
Distant Colours has now finally clicked! I've listened to the album this morning. RIF still a very decent Manics album. It's made me appreciate TUVL and D&F a lot more too. |

And thanks to my brother. I'm well getting it framed!
A Manic Street Preachers Discography Tube Map! Of the albums going up to TUVL. Branch offs of guest musicians. I knew Shovel was on GATS but had never heard of Nick Ingham and Ian Keeley. Really impressively laid out. I'd look at what other maps MIKEBELLMAPS.COM has but for now I'm happy following the track on the painting. I'm also happy he didn't send me any alcohol! |

Just listening to Kathy Burke on Richard Herring's RHLSTP podcast from 2018, very briefly mentions going into the Manics TOTP dressing room dressed as Perry - as in Kevin and Perry. She used to go round the studio knocking on people's dressing room doors between scenes. Apparently went up to the Manics door and said "Hello can I come in please? I don't give blow jobs." She's a legend.
