The song is starting to grow on me. That chorus does go round and round.

Yeah, I don’t like the centrism of some of those lyrics either. Going by the song title I expected a rant about the surveillance capitalist culture we find ourselves in but he seems to be saying it’s a difficult choice to make between truth and outright lies.

I really like the collage vibe of the artwork though, it looks like something you’d see on a ballard novel.

I understood that reference!

Postage is high to cover when they have to resend everything multiple times because they mucked it up the first time. Dread to think what's going to happen with multiple formats on the go.

Me too. Is there one chorus too many though? (see Anthem for a Lost Cause and several others...)

I emailed Kontraband (ie the official store) asking if £7.50 for standard Royal Mail shipping of the deluxe CD was an error/typo.

This is their reply:

Afraid not.

Unfortunately the actual price of the postage is only one part of the cost - there's also the warehouse cost of picking and packing orders, the mailer & packaging, the card fees, etc.

Whilst we do appreciate postage is a big concern for our customers, and we really do try and keep it as low as possible, we also try to ensure we have enough decently paid warehouse staff to provide a speedy service to customers.

We appreciate this means that some customers may wish to shop elsewhere. Sorry its not better news.

Nicky is probably using the postage stamps to make a collage.

Indeed. Seem to remember the Americans got it particularly bad for EIE also

"Orwellian" sounds good. It sounds closer to RIF than I would have expected, given how often the band does about-turns for their follow-up albums, but it sounds warmer and livelier than RIF. Which I'm fine with, because I do really like RIF as an idea, it's just the execution of a lot of it that lets it down in my opinion.

Lovely piano and bass flourishes, really digging the production, good melody. I don't like placing too much weight on the lead singles these days given they always pick the most direct song on the record as the lead, but it's given a good peak to the sound world of the album and I'm very excited.

I am somewhat genuinely saddened by the lack of any bonus studio tracks on the deluxe edition, including the Japanese edition. We barely get b-sides as it is anymore and it just feels really wrong to have a Manics era without supplemental material. I hope they do something - I'd be happy even with some last minute digital single bundle.

So many different vinyl versions of the album. I only want one, but I also want the 7" of the single too. I'll wait for the CD book format to appear on Amazon I think, not bothered about a signed version on the official site.

Maybe because I've never been a huge ABBA fan I'm struggling to really get into Orwellian. It feels more like a nice upbeat track number ten on the album than the lead single. And the chorus feels to me like it should be sang angrily - hopefully the demos explore how the song grew and developed, especially as I'd suspect more than ever the album must have been written separately by the band.

I don't know if somebody already said it, but on the official store you can go on the deluxe edition page and read every page of the book, so the lyrics are already available, more than three monts before the album release.
I will read them only on paper, while listening to the album, in september.
