He's talking about the BPBVB(h) being streamed during lockdown to cheer folk up.

Nicky says something like “it’s for Ali, isn’t it” but it’s unclear and I may be wrong

Thanks for recording it. It was interesting to see. I thought it was audience Q&A too, though when Nicky mentions there isn't much recorded material from THB time, it will be nice if a film and documentary are made. It was interesting to learn Richey wrote THB on a typewriter and that James and Richey went to see Oasis during the recording of THB. I didnt know Definitely Maybe came out at the same time. Possibly it was the worst time for them prior touring in Germany before THB and that possibly were influenced by the dark side of things like in Mausoleum. It was good to hear Nicky saying it rather than from a book where you question if its real. I hope there is a film made to show what there is in footage around their early days.

There is a documentary of sorts on the THB 10 DVD (apologies if this is obvious, but maybe not everyone is aware) but from what he said they didn’t really record anything. It was still fairly unusual to pull a camcorder out in every situation in 1993/4

It's worth noting that the Faster US video from the 10th anniversary is taken from the Astoria gigs so I do wonder how much was recorded and still exists on tapes somewhere. Also it seems that the Glastonbury tapes exist as we got a new video this year on BBC iPlayer. I think the Manics own archive have been exhausted for the THB era but there are potentially more live recordings to find if they were to pay someone to raid the archives of various radio stations and festival archives. I do get the feeling though that the band or probably James in particular see much point in releasing live recordings (reading between the lines of the interview above) as I imagine all the little mistakes or the tenor of his voice grate him while listening.

There must have been a fair amount of stuff from The Astoria, watching it now it looks like it's shot at a couple of the gigs and probably the soundchecks too for the close ups. But I doubt the quality's good enough for the band to consider releasing it as you say.

A full Glastonbury 94 release would be fantastic but no doubt tied up BBC rights, plus again I doubt it'd get past James' quality control. Richey's guitar being high up in the mix is brilliant, but sounds truly dreadful at times. In a way that makes me smile.

Any kind of Manics film covering any period or their entire career is very welcome indeed. I watched No Manifesto last week for the first time in a while and really enjoyed it, and it's great without the amount of behind the scenes access they got, but wished for something newer and slightly more in-depth.

Actually, that was one thing I think they mentioned, the possibility of a documentary film on the band as a whole

Another documentary would be good if there's a decent bit of fresh content or insight, not just the Nicky Wire press kit of quotes/stories he relies on. No footage of them as middle aged blokes in the studio please - sorry, it's just boring. And minimal fan input too, 95% of fans only state the obvious, to be honest.

So yeah, probably don't bother with a documentary unless they can think of a different angle. No pressure, boys.

Thanks, I wasn't aware there was a DVD for THB. I looked on youtube and saw it. I think there must be more content though in recordings, photos, the uniform, James balaclava, writings and clips for a film.

I watched BPBVB last night having listened to the interview. Holds up well and made me regret not going to that tour. The title cards and sound effects between each song haven't aged well though. My brain is expecting the next song and it threw me each time. Would love them to record live shows like this more often.

I don't know if its age but the title cards with the lyric fragments left me scratching my head wondering which song they were from
