I really love it. Reminds me of indiepop classics from the 80's! Not going to pay the silly rates for it over on eBay though.. My 99% complete FLAC encoded MSP discography will have to await this entry until it's bargain bin time..

Haha, it's pretty bad but in a toe tappingly sort of way. Probably still prefer it to the PFAYM title track..

Which Steps stole from some 70's disco outfit!

Raconteurs thieving would be ok if it was James singing it!

Aha, yes I could've put that better. To be a 'true' fan these days, how far do you take it? Buy the box set, or just wait till it appears on you tube, then rip it from there? Either way you've taken the time to hunt it down to hear it, so I guess the whole argument of true and false fans has no place here. We have all taken the time to join a Manics forum after all!!

You are right though, the marketing does leave a lot to be desired. I would buy a copy of the single on CD if I could, as well as all the other b-sides from the PFAYM era that were on vinyl only, if you could get them on CD. 'Genius' is a bonus track on the Japanese National Treasures however, so if anyone does want a cd copy it's a cheaper alternative to the singles box...

robg1979, take it easy mate, knew what you were trying to say, just pulling your leg a bit.

yeah, the box set was great for those who could afford it and nice one for the fans who got lucky with a HMV pre-order, really. as for the rest of us - whatever level of fandom we are at - well, if they want money then they need to release it in a way that people can actually buy it.

It is a shame that they don't think about these things a bit more. The whole box set debacle was beyond a joke. I would have happily paid that amount of money for everything, b-sides from the second cd's, downloads, remixes, the lot. But it was sloppily done, so I wasn't prepared to fork out. Wonder what Nicky's answer would be if you said 'I want a box of everything you have done up to this point and would be willing to pay £250+, but i'm not paying it for half a job'.

He does have a great voice, yes! Not Bradfield great, but for some reason it seems to suit these particular oddities perfectly. Do you like his solo album??

People comparing it to Engage With Your Shadow makes me want to hear it. I fucking love that song.

However, with people also comparing it to the Raconteurs, then I suspect it's less Nicky-does-Krautrock and more Nicky-does-shitty-70s-lad-rock. Which is it?
