Actually, that's a thought. I've not actually played the DVD yet. I think I'm holding out for something AMAZING to justify the debt that I can't face playing it.

Could've done with an HD camera though, and some interviews.

I got the box for Xmas, for £53 I'm hoping, and I have to say it's still not worth it. The book is quite interesting if you can overlook the descent into self-/Richey-parody, and it's very nicely produced, but I wouldn't give more than £15 for it, and the DVD is very amateurish (would have been fine on the website but not saleable quality). The cassette I can't really play and of course I've got the album, and the postcards are pretty pointless.

The main thing that struck me going through it all was how far their/Nick's ambitions must have been dashed since it was produced: all his positioning stuff in the book about 'songs so good every radio station will be forced to play them', 'brilliant videos'(!), 'out of JFPL will come beauty and success' (as per THB => EMG) and 'one last shot at immortality', rather than mass comm.

And what happened to the grey suits and red shirts?!

Oh, forgot to say how much I like Nicky's demo of ITW (although found on YouTube rather than listened to on the cassette)! Could almost have been on Journal - how did that turn into the cheesy bastard we all know and (surely?) never need to hear again?

I am actually starting to crave another Nick solo album on the evidence of his stuff for the last couple of albums (GP excepted), as long as he gets James to sing - and play - it.

The demo reminded me a bit of Everything Fades. Haven't actually listened to the cassette cos I haven't got a cassette player

Er, that'd just be a Manics album surely? If he's going to do another solo album, then he might as well sing. Then James could sing one song on his album like Nick does on PFAYM.

Ah, well this sounds really gash. Sweet relief that I didn't pre-order this insane rip off.
