The Manics make me feel stupid as they read so much so far and I feel illiterate reading their (especially early/with Richey/Richey's) interviews.

Yes, that's it. They were there when I was in a very bad place emotionally - they made it better, they made it worse, they made it a little more glamorous.

Turned me into something of a walking ornament/exhibit. A young girl's mother stopped me on the train the other day after her daughter had spent the entire journey staring at me, and told me "She just said you look like a real life cheetah!" This is what it has come to.
They made me feel like being me is exceptionally cool and I have no need to worry about what others think of me. At aged 17 and barely relating to anyone else my own age that was quite an important validation. |

Really?! I think the only album where they really preach a morality is The Holy Bible. And if you take your morals from that, then I worry for you.

You obviously shouldn't base your life off it 100%, but it demonstrates the way the Manics hold both others and themselves to a very high standard. This comes across in their interviews too, where they're one of the few bands who comes out with such strong opinions on what's good and bad, right and wrong etc. Clearly this has stood them in good stead, with a career that's still going strong after so many years, still making amazing music, still with very passionate fans. That's what I find inspirational about them, and why I've tried to be a better person since I found them

You haven't been following my posts closely, I guess, but yeah, they got me thinking about things I wouldn't have otherwise. In terms of realising that political = personal sometimes, and vice versa.
