So can I just get this straight. Nicky has said on XFM last night that they're playing some gigs in May. Based on this information alone forum members have taken this as a confirmation of a Greatest Hits package?
Am I missing something?

Yes. You're missing listening to the source of the information or reading the thread itself.

I don't care what the tracklisting is as long as it's not full of edits. They can even put Autumnsong on there for all I care. But I absolutely will not accept under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES an album full of radio edits. Or, as was the case with FD, edits of radio edits. The clue is in 'radio'. Albums aren't radio, you CUNTS. If my DEMANDS are not met, I've got a lot of moaning ahead.
Seriously, FD might have been aimed at a casual market, but I'd have had no complaints if over half the songs hadn't literally been ruined. Well, ok, I'd have probably found plenty to complain about, but still... |

They're talking about a Greatest Hits Tour and they've still to finish the current 'Greatest Hits Tour'. Getting a bit boring if you ask me.....

Greatest (of what) hits?!
Are they going to tour the UK all over again? I don't get it, sounds pretty useless and given their weak health, they probably should rest a while - and come up with a much better record! |

Apparently the FD tour was meant to be really quite a fun tour, I'm sure some will agree or disagree, personally I think May might be exam times but I'm up for at least one more Manics gig next year for sure!

They've already said (James, that is) that they'll never do a live album. He thinks it's a cop-out.

Having watched that 360 sessions I really think they should do an accoustic album, even if it's just the greatest hits stripped down to accoustics.

For the release itself, my prediction is to expect editions. Around three. I reckon: 1) Standard Edition. Remastered, single CD, 17 tracks, some obvious and fairly deliberate omissions like no Tolerate or Motorcycle Emptiness in favour of shit nobody likes, like Kevin Carter or La Trisesse. One new track. £12. 2) Deluxe Edition. Two CDs, the first containing the same tracklist as the Standard Ed, the second containing the big songs the standard will miss out. Maybe two new tracks. If Sony feel particularly callous, maybe a different new track on CD1 to the Standard Ed, forcing double-purchasing again. £18 3) Anal Violation Edition. Sold in a shoebox, complete with an audiotape for the three people in the world who still only have tapedecks in their cars, a t-shirt with everything printed on the inside "on purpose" and this time also a lopsided arm, a unique serial number only accessible by damaging the case, and some extra material for the die-hard fan, possibly including a 30 minute DVD, which is actually only 10 minutes but repeated three times, and some actual material, like a lump of teflon or aerogel to play with or something. £120. I do really hope that this marks the end of the wannabe commercial Manic Street Preachers. They're such a good band, and with their own studio and the freedom Sony seem to want to give them, they really have such potential to amaze us on the next proper release. Here's hoping. |

Worth it for the aerogel I say!
