i thought the single did badly cos people didn't like it but now i think it might've been cos there wasnt as much tv promo as YLAINE got...but then the album was released only a week later...and rock/indie isnt doing as well as it has in the past...and....oh fuck it i don't know

I would agree with all of this, every bloody time we get "oh its because they released the wrong single" I can remember queuing waiting to go in the Aston Villa Leisure centre to see the Manics in the mid 90's and some blokes were discussing the 'failure' of Design for Life only getting to No. 2 and if they would have released 'A N Other' it would have been No 1!!!

Totally agree...lack of tv promo can largely be held responsible...I literally only ever saw the vid on 'MTV Rocks' a couple of times (and i do waste a lot of my time flicking through the music stations)...Previous singles like YLAINE were shown on a variety of channels and far more frequently.

I really like the single, at first I was like "pretty dull and average" but I think it's fresh and full of happy bouncy energy and when it was played live at Leeds the crowd were well having it, loads of singing and jumping about! I just think it needed more promotion, the video as we all know got little play at best cos that was boring, and they didn't appear on TV at all apart from Jools Holland so....there you go.

Aye, you're right. Should creep over this by the end of January if it gets put on a decent sale price
I'd love to know up to date figures for Know Your Enemy and Lifeblood though.

Problem with the album is it takes 5 listens to be good. That's useless for an album that is meant to be commerical - needs to grab you on the first listen otherwise people won't bother.

Actually on average the reviews for 'Postcards' have been better than those for 'Truth'. Also, while the NME gave the albums the same score, after 'Truth' a real backlash started against them which led to them being slagged off constantly. That hasn't happened this time.

I do think that 'Postcards' would have sold a lot better in, say, 2001 as the follow-up to 'Truth'. But it's only been out a few months. Hopefully there'll be another single and the sales will be boosted again.

Of course, if they've already bought it it won't matter whether they like it at all.
