Just another album. I love their music and their passion to carry on making as much music as they do - how many bands record 4/5 brand new tracks for b-sides these days per single? I honestly can't name any these days. You get 1 new track if you're lucky.
Anyway, I imagine they'll probably be away for 2011 taking a break and then getting ideas ready for a new album so in that time I'd like to see an official definite Manics book and a live DVD release.

The impression I had was that they intended to head off to Europe in the spring, do a few summer festivals and then some dates in the USA later in the year.

How that will pan out now in the light of what Nick has said about the amount of touring they've done in the last few years and with James' Laryngitis I really don't know. Already booked for one UK festival though.

I just hope they don't rush to record another album. I think they should take some time out to think about what they want to do next (which from the sounds of it seems like what they will do.) As much as I liked Postcards I'd rather they didn't feel so constrained by this 'mass communication' theory and just wrote for themselves rather than for a mass audience. While they're doing that though would be great if we could get a live DVD/documentary - maybe raid the archives for some rare footage

Time for the TIMT boxset to have its moment, I think.

Where's that impression from? As far as I know the only time they mentioned the US was in the context of march/april next year?

I don't know why everyone thinks this albums was sony's insistence. But I don't think it's a good album template to follow with. They should stop being so concerned with writing for commerical success and write what they want, and commerical success is a by-product of that or not. When they try and write to recapture something or deliberately go out for commerical success, it doesn't exactly work.

They should make a concept album by writing music to go with Nicky's Doctor Who script.

Agreement. Whoever concludes this is a deluded man. Class is fragmenting but the bottom line is that there is only two true classes even in this day and age, the haves and the have nots.

1) Record a new album
2) Produce it without an orchestra involved
3) Choose a good single from those songs
4) Get a long session of promotion for that song
5) Have less gigs in larger venues to save James' throat
6) Make money and forget about worrying ao popularity and do what the Hell they want.

That's what I'd like to see anyway.

I'd like them to take a break for most of 2011 but release an EP around this time next year with maybe a one-off show to promote it, with the music on the EP giving an idea for the next album (released by Spring 2012). Something hopefully like Know Your Enemy but with extra quality.
