Disagree. Coldplays X&Y sold loads, Lifeblood is far superior IMO. But hey ho, it's how it goes sometimes!

Don't get me wrong. I like Lifeblood. I don't know Coldplay any much so I can't compare but I really think that the better promotion would have surely helped Lifeblood but it wouldn't have been major.

Would've given it a fair shot if nothing else.

As a massive fan of both bands I have to say I can't agree with that statement. Lifeblood is an ok effort and nothing more. Bar 1985 and about 2 or 3 other songs I could easily have lived my life without having ever heard it. I don't expect there will be any Coldplay love around here but X&Y has some storming tracks.

X & Y sent me to sleep in my mates car once. Trufax!

I've also fallen asleep to it. Most Coldplay albums, actually.

It might(..) have reached #40 in Norway. No radioplay over here, but it has got some attention, and therefore I thought it would chart. Instead it stands
#40 (re-entry) The Lighthouse Family - Postcards from Heaven But I really doubt that The Lighthouse Family gets a random re-entry after 10 years, with a title so similar In my local area, PFAYM is #13 |

Each to their own opinion of course but I hate the way Coldplay get constantly tagged with the boring brush. If people saw their live show they might change their minds.
Was speaking to one of my friends today who has a passing interest in the Manics and he wasn't even aware a new album had been released. Clearly promotion in Ireland was not a priority for the mass communication aided by the fact that we have no live dates that fans could actually attend. |

But I suppose that could be the case anyway if you're not a big fan. If you're not actively waiting for new stuff it probably will pass you by. A former colleague didn't know they'd released anything since Truth or something crazy like that!

I'd say X&Y and Lifeblood are on a par qualitywise, both are good albums just a bit cold. The problem with the Manics is they keep releasing crap first singles (well bar YLAINE), we havent had a good one since Tolerate, wrong choices everywhere you look. KYE should have been one or the other not both SWSS and FTS, Nixon, supposed to be a B side and should have stayed one, and Its Not War just wasnt the single to launch the album, Postcards would have been much better to do that

#87 in Switzerland, 57 (!) positions worse than JFPL and their worst ever placement on the Swiss charts (no album before TIMT charted, but every album since got higher on the chart).
