Ah, good, at least some people still like it. It gets a lot of flack sometimes. The songs live really work, though Your Love Alone should never have anybody other than James or Nina herself in the girl's parts.

'Tigers' is a half and half album for me. There's some good stuff but a lot of it sounds lazy. 'Autumnsong' sounds like it was written in ten minutes - music and lyrics. 'Patsy' is a stodgy rocker with a load of strings thrown over the top to distract from the point. 'Underdogs' is a decent tune but another poor lyric. 'The Second Great Depression' is basically a big chorus looking for a song to be part of, and for a lyric to justify it being so big.

On the plus side, when they put the strings away it works better. 'Imperial Bodybags' and the title track have lyrics that Nick appears to have actually thought about, and they're easily the best on the album. 'Rendition' doesn't quite hit those standards but it's still a very decent attempt. And 'Indian Summer' and 'Winterlovers' both suffer the SATT curse (i.e. putting strings over *everything*) but they're good enough to cope. 'Your Love Alone' is a quality pop tune.

So not a disaster, but I think they seriously over-used the strong sections to bolster songs they knew were a little weak. I think it's about on a par with 'Lifeblood' in fairness, but both could have been improved with the substitution of a few b-sides for weaker album tracks.

Because it's so short?

I understand Tiger Woo's wife really likes SATT, especially the title track.

And yes I've spelt that right - Tiger Woo.

Yeah, I'm sure you're right about the initial feelings fans on FD had about both albums, but as someone who wasn't a member at the time either album was released, I have to say, I loved LB (still do - probably my second favourite album by them) and couldn't stand SATT...I actually still can't listen to it right through despite many attempts to give it another shot.

You're not alone, SATT remains amazing...I can't stand the SATT backlash. In my opinion, its informed by po-faced attitudes...you know the kinds..."look at me, im such a sophisticated Manics fan cause I love LB and hate SATT." Pah.

Or it could just be that people are allowed to have different opinions to you.

SATT's a good album ..rendition and ....patsy are the two songs I would ditch . Prefer some of the b-sides to those two. It's not the album where i think MUST play that but when i do I often play it again.

Actually, I *really* agree with this for some reason. It's possibly because I first listened to it on a road trip, but I still like to listen to it when driving.

I want them to take Found That Soul as a direction and then expand on it with more complex songs - I'd like them to do something interesting on a song and make it over 4 minutes long.

Also a couple of acoustic numbers, the Wire's best ever lyrics (with the amount he's supposed to have written there's got to be a better chance of some gems, right?), and some long, mind blowing JDB solos too.

And I would like the availability of tracks they don't use as b-sides, preferably on CD singles and 7"s, or on a deluxe edition of the album.

It's *your* opinion that other people only dislike an album you like because they're po-faced. That's still being insulting about people for the sole reason that they have a different opinion to you, so saying that it's your opinion doesn't make it any better.
