Meh, gutted i only found out about this recently. Nice of them to miss Newcastle out on the tour, then decide to play an "exclusive" gig in Newcastle that's so exclusive that it generally excludes those who live in Newcastle.
You Love Us? Hardly.

The tour's already enormous, and exclusive gigs, by definition, exclude people, no matter what city they're in. Not sure what more they can do, really...

Well, considering they're missing out an entire region of the UK on the tour and substituting it with an exclusive gig, it's hardly fair. A normal tour date would've been better. Doing an exclusive gig in a city where they're not playing on the tour is just rubbing it in.

I agree, I hadn't realised it wasn't on the tour but it's a bit of a cheek especially when Newcastle is a pretty major place. Ok for an exclusive gig and a proper one, not so to only allow 200 Newcastle folk to see them.

Well, most of the tickets were up for grabs on local radio stations....the official site had a few pairs that could have gone to anyone, and the organisers were nice enough to offer some to FD...but I would think the majority of those were open to newcastle.

I don't think it really matters where an exclusive gig is, but I agree, they should have just played a regular one in newcastle!

It's probably worth pointing out that Newcastle Breweries was demolished some time ago and the production of Brown Ale (whatever you do, don't call it Newcy Brown whilst in Newcastle!!) has since moved to the Federation Brewery on the other side of the Tyne, which is quite a considerable distance from the centre of Newcastle.

Possibly see you at the gig on monday

I haven't been on here in an age. First I agree with whats been said above that its quite crap that the only gig they're playing up here is an exclusive thing where not everyone gets a chance. And 2nd I thought the deadline for finding out if you had won was tues/wednesday but have just had a phone call to say I have won some tickets and when I asked about it being in the academy 2 the lady said there was some problems with the venue and may be moved down stairs now? anyone else heard anything?

I'm not sure if they have Brown Ale on tap, but there's a pub very close to the Academy that's fairly decent. It's not cheap, but it's not massively overpriced either. It's sort of halfway between the Academy and the Central Station. It's called The Forth and is on a little alley called Pink Lane. Their website is here: http://www.theforthnewcastle.co.uk/
