I like the idea of soundtrack stuff, I'd totally be interested in hearing that. As for the next studio album, what could they possibly (realistically, direction wise) do that they haven't really done yet?

Although, judging by all the synthie stuff on Futurology, I think they'd sooner go Eurodance than metal... |

I'm not sure I'm that interested in a film soundtrack. I suppose James could still sing on it though.

There are few bands with a closer relationship between the members. How could they not make music together?

This whole 'classic rock album with big riffs, after a break' spiel has been in several interviews now, including this week's NME interview. Might end up sounding nothing like that of course, but a soundtrack album in between sounds like a done deal - some instrumentals with one of two songs with lyrics would be good

Personally I'm really looking forward to the film soundtrack. Pretty sure I heard in an interview Kieran Evans has asked them to do a film so probably something with lots of Welsh links. (Tbh I can't see them doing a film that didn't.)
Even so three years does seem quite a long time out of the public eye (or at least without an album - Wire won't be able to keep quiet!) but it will give them lots of continued time to spend with friends and family and hang out at the social club for 45 year olds! Sony seem to leave them to their own devices so I'm sure they'll know when to return. I can't think of any battles they've got left to win but given what a fantastic run they're on, whatever they come up with I'm sure it'll be worth the wait, mega rock album or not. As NME said you can rarely trust what they say sound-wise! Plus we can look forward to No Manifesto next year too, so I don't think we'll be short of Manics news! |

They could write a new theme tune for Wade Barrett in that time

I suppose you mean instead of the soundtrack, but to be honest, I'd rather have an album full of instrumentals than having to listen to The Wire's sad excuse for a singing voice again. (Sorry! *ducks*) |

I like the sounds that they're making in interviews about feeling the next album will be a 3 piece riff-tastic rock album.
If they stick to that I could see them having something out by spring 2016. |
