Reminds me much more of the UK. Also what a great lyric that. The applauding of a collapsing state line is the best poetic summary yet of the pandemic England I saw.

Oh so many, here are a few…
“When the summer is gone you know it’s dead” (And that whole song!) “If the love between us has faded away Left in the rain, scratching at the stains The paralyzed future The past sideways scrawl I must give up on this It makes no sense at all … And yet I kept my silence Your memory is still mine No I will not share them Acquaintance through denial For I witnessed splendour And evil that no-one saw And I felt kindness And vanity for sure” ”Maybe this strangeness only ever was To hide ourselves from some kind of happiness But always the moment it just seems to stay Tearing it off like so many calendar days” ”But now I feel so weak Dead trees and traffic islands never meet Is this, is this my defeat? This purgatory for beginners” ”Throw myself against you 'cause you ain't frail Underneath silk riches sixty six million giving slaves This needle of religions gonna rust my skin Tear out and exit abeyance of created sin” ”So hold me, hold me, hold me like a heaven I want some faith and wanna be forgiven I wanna feel your divine intervention So hold me, hold me So hold me, hold me like I'm lost in your heaven” And, so many good suggestions in the thread, but this!: ”Just like a moment in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid I'm perpetually stuck in sepia film”

Inner eye opening to the stepped scarlet pyramid of the Eastern Seaboard Fission Authority burning beyond the green cubes of Mitsubishi Bank of America, and high and very far away he saw the spiral arms of military systems, forever beyond his reach. And somewhere he was laughing, in a white-painted loft, distant fingers caressing the deck, tears of release streaking his face. Last edited by Tim; 02-11-2022 at 22:42. |

Daft observation but anyway....I love the bands lyrics...they're what first reeled me in...yet when pondering over the ones that really hit....you realise how the ones that catch you out combine with the music to hit hard....this joke sport severed hits me everytime but if I quote this joke sport severed, I endeavoured to find a place where I became untethered....it doesnt overwhelm on the page quite as it does against the music....
But then poetry and lyrics are different I guess....poetry can hit hard lyrics need the music....to realise and feel words ....to make them reach and mean...to quote Patrick Jones...a lyricist needs a band Ramblings

I watched the Cuba DVD last night in bed and you can just about hear Nicky singing that outro, well, he's mumbling it haha. For years the line 'Every single living organism' I used to think he was saying something about lizards haha!

Sometimes, seeing the youth nowadays....
"We've lost the art of being young" And then I wonder whether the adults during my time were thinking the same about us.
