Camera angles at festivals and live events are so deceptive, I've been at small gigs and the photos have made them look much bigger. Manics Hammersmith gig for example, it was tiny but looks twice as big in the footage.

My mate, who is at V, text me last night. She said the crowd were mainly uninterested with the Manics and their performance was very flat due to the crowd. She said it was the same for Primal Scream so she ended going back to her hotel half way through their set.

V is literally the worst festival to go to. Hopefully people saw sense and flogged their tickets rather than watching the Script just to get 40 mins of the boys. Cripes.

Never mind the recent riots, what is David Cameron going to do about our festivals!?!

These soft pop-loving kids have come along and they've basically scared every rock fan away. How has that happened? Should we blame the parents?

I can understand the lack of interest with the Manics, they've brought it on themselves, but you'd think that Primal Scream would have managed to retain their credibility.

I'm watching the stream this afternoon for one reason only: to see just how bad it can get. We've already seen some sorry sights at T in the Park this year but my expectations are below car crash levels for this one. If they weren't already committed to taking a long break, it could be a career ender. Certainly a festival appearance ender. A Sunday mid afternoon slot on the main stage at V. Worse than hell.

Oh, I don't know, if they keep it mellow enough it could work. I have very fond memories of a mid afternoon Bunnymen set at a festival a few years ago.

I thnk a lot of festivels have mixed the music genre too much. Reading/Leeds and Soniqeshpere tend to always stick to rock genre wheras V, T n the Park and Glastonbury go for the mix.

I think/hope they won't be doing V again after this year...Reading and Leeds would have been a much better idea. I suppose they might not have too much say in what festivals they do though?

Just watched the "highlights" from yesterday, skipped every single song. Gets worse each year, kinda enjoyed it 2 years ago.

I think the Manics do get some choice in festivals but they probably just take the first thing they're offered.

I agree. I think there's been a lot of confusion in the industry about what festival goers want. An act might sell a lot of digital downloads, but it doesn't mean that loads of people will want to see them live.
