Any other flippin' week it would've been No 1 too.

A famous, well known, popular musician and the latest indie darlings don't often release their albums in the same week though. (Not saying that HASN'T happened before, but just not when a Manics record has also come out!)

I'm confused about when theirs and Phils were released actually. Were they both in their second week or what?

According to Amazon both The Script's and Phil Collins' were released on the 13th September, whereas the Manics was the 20th. But I was under the impression albums sold better in the first week of release usually, due to a build up of pre-orders and whatnot, but I guess it depends what promo the other two bands did within the second week. I'm sure someone said Phil Collins had appeared on ITV, which might have boosted sales.

Yeah, he had an ITV special on the Saturday evening before PFAYM came out. Before that happened he entered the charts at 4 and promptly went back to three the week after beating PFAYM.

Simply Red were given a show in the same slot the following week and had an old compilation climb over 50 places to re-enter the top ten because of it. That is one beastly TV slot.

An appearance on a big primetime Saturday night TV show (not Xfactor for obvious reasons) would be priceless in terms of promo.

I saw the album advert for the first time today, and that was on Dave. PFAYM: the world's biggest advertising campaign...

Think quite a few people watch Dave y'know. I don't.
