Craig Charles played the first few seconds of what sounded like a blistering Found That Soul on a “guess the year” competition

Rani Singh, who played Sufia Karim in EastEnders 1988-90 and went on to be a BBC Journalist, played 2 Manics songs on River Radio this morning: Tolerate (after talking about HBO's The Vow) and Autumnsong.
Five weeks ago she played Borderline, Raindrops and Take-My-Eyes-Off-Of-You in the week Sleep-Next-To-Plastic came out Last edited by taxexile; 25-09-2022 at 14:38. |

A couple of hours ago, I listened to a radio programme about Chuck Berry. One of the songs that they played was Manic Street Preachers' version of Rock and Roll Music.

Dunno if youtube counts... But here's a video from Rock n Roll True Stories, a Yank channel investigating Rock's greatest mysteries, devoted to Richey's disappearance https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPbuNLtkFDY

Motorcycle Emptiness on Planet Rock this lunchtime. I was just getting out of the car and had to sit there until it had finished. Why is Surprise Manics so nice?

A Design For Life was on the 1996 Pick of the Pops on Radio 2.
My enjoyment was hobbled by thinking "Are they playing the original version and not the remastered one?". James's voice seemed incredibly mixed down. Typical, Manics get played and I'm moaning it's not the remastered version! |

Nicky and James are on 6music as this week's 'Artist in Residence ' . It looks as though there will be four hour long shows from Monday to Thursday at 9pm each evening. First one is tonight :

Episode 1 of the Rise and Fall of Britpop features Steve Lamacq and Jo Whiley discussing the music scene of the early nineties. Whilst they do stress the Manics were the antithesis of Britpop they do discuss the 4 Real and The Word performance in quite a bit of detail.

Motorcycle on EastEnders, I imagine someone must be a massive fan of that song on the show!!
Do the band get any royalties when their songs are played on TV? |

Did anyone listen to the Nicky Wire/Brett Anderson thing on Six Music this afternoon? Worth a listen back?

Yeah, they played some good songs and had a bit of banter. You can always fast forward bits as well, so it won't take long.
