I'm glad you had a wonderful time. I can't wait to see them next Thursday! How long was the gig? Was the merchandise cheaper than in Denmark?

Ithink the setlist is good, with a perfect selection of songs ... but the end of the set is so 'weak' and boring. You must know that on the mainland songs like Motown Junk, Little baby Nothing and Stay Beautiful (and SKON off course) are completely unknown for the mainstream. While the start of the gig has more 'European classics'. Better vice versa in my opinion.
My experience as a Manics-fan rates the songs on their popularity on the mainland. ***= well known *= only real fans (FD-people ) 1) Motorcycle Emptiness *** 2) Your Love Alone Is Not Enough *** 3) Ocean Spray ** 4) Love's Sweet Exile * 5) It's Not War (Just The End Of Love) ** 6) The Everlasting ** 7) Found That Soul ** 8) This Is The Day * 9) The Love Of Richard Nixon ** 10) Revol * 11) Tsunami ** 12) A Design For Life ** 13) From Despair To Where * 14) You Love Us * 15) There By The Grace Of God ** 16) The Masses Against Classes ** 17) Everything Must Go* 18) Stay Beautiful* 19) You Stole The Sun From My Heart *** 20) Some Kind Of Nothingness * 21) Little Baby Nothing * 22) Motown Junk * 23) Tolerate ***

You should believe me. Don't think that a massive cheer occurs when they announce Design For Life over here.
Everything Must Go was played on a festival in 2009, and no-one was singing along!

Believe me, a Manics gig in Brittain or in Europe, a complete difference. But fun anyhow, don't get me wrong.

no idea about the merch prices, straight after the gig i rushed to the backstage doors to catch Sean and I don't catch anyone. i suppose standard German prices eg. t-shirt 20 euros. i'll try to get merch in Prague, will be my last gig and i'll know then how much money i'm left with. Real fans = FD people? strongly disagree. there are many hard cores who dont type here. and when i typed 'Glitter during Motown Junk' i really meant glitter falling down drom the ceiling on fans. i was covered in glitter. one of the best things Ever-Ever in my life. will remember this moment until i die.

I think the younger generation prefers their more recent hits even in GB, but proportionally there are more fans there, so the division is not so obvious. And it's completely understandable behaviour if you remember where punk originated!
As far as ADFL is concerned, it's so indelibly connected to their home country, you have to have the ability to internalize those feelings, whereas Tolerate is more general in meaning. I hope I'll have a chance to experience a Manics' gig in GB some day, but Europe will do for the first time.
