I seem to remember about five Patrick Jones videos around the time of Lifeblood that featured alternative mixes or demos of, from memory, 1985, Emily, Solitude, Fragments and Cardiff Afterlife, can't be found anywhere now as far as I can tell but then there is lots of stuff from back then that you can't find anymore, like James' track by track Great Western interview from MySpace, would love to see that again.

Thanks, Porco. That does explain the process somewhat, as it applies to Some Kind Of Bliss. What of I Don't Need Anyone, though? Nicky is credited as having co-written that. Should we just presume that the same process as Some Kind Of Bliss applies there too? And for Waiting For Today To Happen?

I suppose short of Nicky, James or Sean explaining in an interview it's anyone's guess... does anyone who has Twitter fancy asking Sean outright?

Another track that could be included on this list is the 6 Underground-ish/Born Slippy-ish Quivver Mix of Some Kind Of Bliss from the Special Edition Bonus Disc of Impossible Princess, and available for a listen (!) here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWOK3v0IgAA

I'd not heard it before.

Good spot, didn't know that existed. Think it's probably out the original purview of this thread as I mostly ignoring remixes except the ones the Manics did for other bands.

That said this thread's grown legs so I might do an extra post covering remixes, not interested myself but might be useful for others.

Thanks to Porco's advice I've managed to source the clean version of Jackie Collins Existential Question Time on a CD called Mastermix Pro 107 which is intended for DJs.

I managed to find it for under £5 delivered in the UK at this address from a site called DJ Depot. Mine arrived yesterday so can confirm it's a genuine site and the clean version.

There was two other CDs which had Your Love Alone (acoustic) (volume 26) and Walk Me To the Bridge (live) (Volume 112). These are the same as the itunes downloads. But I believe its the only place you can find them on CD.

I made a topic a while on compilation exclusive tracks: http://www.foreverdelayed.org.uk/for...ad.php?t=61263

Thank you for the very kind words. Your list in this thread really is excellent, by the way - I found at least three songs I didn't know existed!

JDB sings on a new remix he was supposed to do that's actually a cover.

The Manic Street Preachers said they had bought our album and really liked it. Two days later James rang up for the lyrics of the song, which I thought was unusual for a remix. Then he sent me the track and what he had done was basically cover the song and just keep my vocals on and duet with me! Very cool. He said it was the most prog they had ever been but somehow it still sounds like the biggest stadium anthem he has done since [1996's] 'A Design For Life'! They can’t help their natural melodic touch from pouring out.
