As excited for KYE reissue, brand new 2021 strain Manics is more exciting!
Didn't it seem like nothing was going to happen again ever last year?

Well... Not NEW news. Just News lifted from the Mojo piece.
Apologies to those who strained themselves to read this thread hoping of new new news.

Mega fucking excited. This sounds great from the Mojo piece.

There's one word I can't make out due to blur of the pic (for which still -- lots of thanks!) The album title Nicky was "Playing with." Looks like... "intimidation"? "Intimism"?

Totally dejected after reading that Mojo article. I'm not sure where ye are all getting lifeblood 2 vibes from, all i can see is 'clash paying abba' being the equivalent to 'heavy metal tamla motown'. Last thing the universe needs is another 'postcards for a young man' effort at 'mass communication'

All I know is that the albums never sound anything like Nicky's descriptions. What does interest me is that a substantial amount has been written on piano, so even if it's arranged on guitar, it should lead to some novel ideas, chord progressions and melodies - so hopefully less PFAYM and more RTW/Futurology

Well you can't find (I tried!) a thread between Lifeblood and the first two solo albums
But you can find a thread between the 2006 solo albums and SATT.
I'm hoping album 14 carries on a musical thread from Even In Exile. More than "same singer".
But it could be different! Were already in the last week of April. Two more days then it's May.
Edging closer and closer to new Manics stuff. It'll be here before we know!

Sound great.. Seems to be that london calling meets dancing queen🙂 it will be a pop record goes with a bit darker lyrics. No lifeblood 2 something much catchier in sound I guess. Lots of piano parts..

Subtle, restrained, comforting melancholia, piano.

I guess we’ll hear the first single in the next couple of months then. July for a September release sounds sensible.

Well, RIF was a better Postcards and we got a respectable single in the form of International Blue out of that

I'm just excited for new Manics stuff. After a bullshit year of covid and nothing good happening, anything new Manics related in my eyes is a blessing. Bring it on ASAP!

I try not to read too much into the pre-release blurb for new Manics albums (or for any artists really).

But on a similar note, can you match these quotes from Nicky/James to which album he was talking about?

a) There's an overriding concept behind (album name) which is to express all the inspiration we get from travel, music and art – all those ideas, do that in a positive way.

b) The main themes are death and solitude and ghosts. Being haunted by history and being haunted by your own past. Sleep is beautiful for me. I hate dreaming because it ruins ten hours of bliss.

c) I loved records like Pornography by The Cure and Joy Division records and Wire records and Magazine records and [Siouxsie and the] Banshees records and Wah! records and Associates records where everything starts with the drums
