The Japanese release apparently will have two bonus tracks we know of, ‘My Drowning World’ and ‘These Dark Roads’. Also out on the 10th.

Agree with you about the album, I’m loving it.

Just remembered the GATS debacle with people getting (or not getting) all sorts of variants to what they actually ordered.

Interested to see how Friday plays out. I ordered the signed GATS book thing and managed to get that and a signed vinyl sent in error. Arrived on the Saturday rather than the Friday but I’d take that again if I get another freebie.

. Orwellian is kinda stupid outside this composition, here it makes a lot of sense.
This is an an example of the problem with being a Manics fan. Wanting to defend the band, even when they come up with sub-par stuff.

There is a strong argument that a good, or even decent song should never be reliant on anything else, it can stand alone. If it's 'kinda stupid outside this composition' then then in all reality you probably found it 'kinda stupid' altogether and just don't want to admit it to yourself.

It's just making excuses to try and defend a 'kinda stupid' song.

Did Orwellian murder your puppy or something?

I think the joy of being big fan of any band is that it it allows you put all their music into the context of what came before and after. The history, both musical and personal add richness to the listening experience. With TUVL I'm hearing musical callbacks to The Great Western which really hasn't been acknowledged in fifteen years. To me there's a lot going on under the hood of TUVL and it's interesting to see so many facets of the band on display in one album.

Personal tastes differ though so I'm not sure why your taking such umbridge with someone's like for a song.

Haha no puppies were harmed by Orwellian thankfully, and just to be clear I've no issue with someone liking a song, just because I think it's shite doesn't mean everyone else has to (mind you it would help).

My issue is with making excuses. It's kinda stupid unless in 'x ' context. It's like saying that "it's a shite song but if you listen to it underwater on a manually reversed cassette in a 1988 Sony Walkman with 1996 Aiwa headphones then it's a masterpiece". It's just a shite song. Its ok to be a fan and say you don't like something.

If there is anything that PFAYM taught me it's that. (Truthfully I should have learned the lesson with 'wattsville blues' )but you live and learn.

I sometimes wonder ifs right that with each MSP album I have to “work on” the album until I like it, but then often end up loving it.

Going into another listen tonight. I’m not quite there yet but I’m staring to remember bits of songs which is a good sign.

No but seriously, how come they keep making such great music? 30 years and they can turn out a song as celestial as Snowing In Sapporo. The guitars on this one! The elaborate strumming throughout, the sparking streams of electric guitar surging under the final chorus. And then that incredibly atmospheric tail end of a fade out.

And as total and as poignant as Afterending? What a chorus -- sail into the abyss with me...

But I would urge people who are bored by his previous videos to ask yourselves whether they want to spend another 5m43s watching something just to complain about how they didn’t find anything if value in it. It’s kind of masochistic at this point don’t you think?

Anyway, I think both the video and this version of the song are absolutely beautiful.

Is this the one that you’ve ordered?

https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/SI...f161372237a6c3

It mentions bonus tracks but they’re not named and the title being a regular edition makes me think. Also seems cheap but if that’s the case then that’s cool.
