So, this probably means their second release of this album, will be the 'real single'. We had Rewind the film and Europa Geht Durch Mich as 'pre-singles', and now we've got International Blue.
The second song will feature the magnificent chorus we heard on the trailer for resistance is futile (just after 1 minute). Well, that's my guess, but I feel I'm lucky on this one

And I think we'll even have another single from them before the album drops.
MGMT are due a new album in February and so far have released three songs. If that's a new trend for bands, three before the album I'm happy with that! Can you imagine the chaos of if the first three singles were released before previous Manics albums?! |

I'm slightly surprised to see people suggesting that it's somehow doesn't sound like a single as to me it's the most obvious single they've released in years - if anything that's part of the problem for me, it's a little too *obvious*. But then, every time I hear it I get carried away by it - which is the whole point of a single of course. And the amount of radio play it's getting shows how well it's being received outside the fanbase - again, the entire point of a single.

Most of the folks I've heard talking about it outside this forum (and mostly casual fans at that) have had predominantly positive things to say about the single.

For once this song is as described...it really is a great Manics driving song as I believe James said it was intended to be.
I've been playing it in my car for a few weeks almost non stop and I do a lot of driving! It's catchy and upbeat and for me it's the best single in a very long time. Almost like a tribute to manics singles of the past 20 years. It has elements from a lot of different albums. It could fit on EMG, SATT and would've made PFAYM a lot better! Played straight after Interiors it works as well as I found out after listening to their songs about painters/paintings. Video drops this week as well |

I really don't see the point in releasing a video for a song which has already been released for over a month.
It seems the song gets airplay in the UK. Good news, because in Belgium: nada. Not on mainstream radio, nor on alternative indie radio.

Although their previous albums had same characters in their videos, got a better feeling if from the photos the Japanese woman features in all of the videos from this album.
I feel really confident about the album. Could easily see it doing better as none of the past two had A Listed Radio play. Plus there's been nothing of duets on this album. So James must feel strong enough again to carry the album? Manics News Flash A Day Later: O wee haf jewets wiv layde simgers onn ailbim! |

Don't really see the point of a special video nowadays, unless it's something mind-warping or likely to go 'viral' (ugh, can't believe I caved in and used that term). Just seems like unnecessary expense.

Not much sense in releasing a video a month after the release of the track, I don't think it'll boost sales much. But here's my theory:
Track gets recorded, band have idea for single release, rush to Nice to record video. Band look at ticket sales for arena tour, think shit, we need to get the track out there so people can hear it and it might boost ticket sales pre Xmas. No time to record b-sides and video is going to take six weeks to edit, so track gets put out with a rushed lyrics video. Band have already spent money on the video so have to put it out. Sean did mention something about a possible physical release but communication from the band is pretty sparse so no idea if this is actually happening or not to coincide with the video release.

Video is absolutely beautiful. Really falling in love with the band again. Yes I know it is very much inspired by Yves Klein, but the echoes of Richey in the band's history are really prominent to me throughout the video. It is gorgeous. |

First thought on the video... is the Japanese being spoken by a robot/program or by someone who has never spoken a word of Japanese in their life? One of the two, cos it sounds bloody awful.

Kieran Evans is obviously the best director they’ve worked with but JDB mimicking his movements from the Motorcycle Emptiness video just makes him look unnatural and awkward here.
