I'm on the sleeper train now, and my choice of t-shirts has narrowed down to KYE album art on browny green, a black lifeblood tee or just saying sod the Manics and wearing my white Thor t-shirt instead

Well, the first eight hours of my journey went smoothly enough, now at Crewe sitting in what is hopefully the right train to get me the rest of the way. Sleepy, rubbish Star Trek novel not helping...

I won't be there until at least Four after I've checked into the hotel at Newport. I might wonder down to the queue to see how long it is but I think tonight I'm going to wait around and have a few drinks and take in the City before standing somewhere I'm unlikely to get shoved and crushed and actually enjoy the music.

What to wear? Is it a bit too obvious to be one of those guys who dusts off his 'Baby I'm Bored' shirt? All the rest of my mid90s tour shirts are at home. I may just wear a hoodie.
