Sculpture of Man - a rip-off?
I just listened to The Replacements for the first time in my life, and I think The Manics ripped of this song in Sculpture of Man!
What do you think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UII8qh6A8oY |

It is quite a lot like SOM. Doesn't necessarily mean it's a rip off though.

Well think of it this way, there are always going to be songs that sound like songs that already exist. It doesn't mean they stole or ripped off anything.

True, but surely it's influence more than anything?
Edit: I agree Manichenki - they do sound very similar.

The biggest crime here is that you have listened to The Replacements for the first time today!

What's funny is on the same album the Replacements have a song that's an explicit ripoff of 'Cat Scratch Fever'. Have the Manics ever talked about the Replacements? |

There are only so many chords and only so many ways to play them.

I might be wrong, but knowing a little something about mathematics I guess there are millions, maybe billion ways of arranging and playing music chords.

Only three chords if you're playing any punk

Hahaha true! And all three of them barre chords.

Wonder if the Manics have even heard of The Replacements! I wouldn't worry too much about it!
