Thanks for your suggestions ... both serious and joking! I don't know all of the songs that have been mentioned since I am a relatively new fan of the Manics. I've liked almost everything I've listened to so far and keep discovering new (to me) songs.

Just to explain, my reason to have them play the Manics is twofold: 1) to introduce the Manics to an audience where the majority would never ever have heard of them before, and more importantly, 2) I get tired of hearing two minutes of dance/techno stuff or Taylor Swift or Glee every single day.

I've spent WAY too much time reading (and enjoying) threads on this forum. I was a little nervous about posting for the first time; I don't know why!

It's always nice to hear from relatively new fans! No need to be nervous!

There's every need. Some of them are just downright fucking horrible.

Righto - welcome aboard, OP. Off the top of my head I would say:

No surface all feeling
Motorcycle emptiness
All we make is entertainment.

(Though I am now starting to think that SKON may be my favourite ever Manics song. Oh, the dilemma of questions such as these!)

Cool To 'educate' or 'influence'?

Here's the thing...
you want to introduce people who (as you say) would normally listen to 'Glee' anthems or Taylor Swift.
So....you don't want to scare them away with the more 'challenging' stuff....no!
How about....'Small Black Flowers that Grow in the Sky' from Everything Must Go, to make them stop, listen and think? It's a beautiful, haunting song!
Alternatively...'Masses against the classes' to influence their train of thought!
The teachers shouldn't mind, because it quotes Albert Camus at the end! You've introduced them to contemporary European literature...go to the top of the class! QED!! ; )
