Ignore the Corbyn-bashing headline, that’s the Guardian being the parody of the Guardian it has become.
The headline made me cringe but thankfully the actual content of the article is excellent and not indicative of the title. Great read.

No, you're not being stupid. Easy mistake to make when there's this many I guess! Here's to it getting hard and harder to keep count!

I agree, and I agree.

Yeah, awful clickbait headline that bears only a passing resemblance to the rest of the quote.

Also, don’t read the comments or you’ll want to smash something expensive.

I automatically read the comments after your advice...

The millennial guardianista brigade truly miss the point of Manics, which is very re-assuring. God forbid a band should still be permitted an opionion about anything at all.

I hope there were similarly vitriolic comments when Thom York revealed his reticence re: Corbyn and the reformation of Labour.

There's a mix in the comments, but a lot of reactionary (!) comments automatically shooting friendly fire toward the band, which I think is misjudged. Probably a sub editor to blame.

Nicky has been laying into Corbyn as far back as 2006

I mean I absolutely love Michael Foot as a person, I think he's the most ultimate dignified politician there's probably ever been, but I've never been as idiotic to think that he could win a fucking election. Which is depressing.

I read 4 or 5 pages of the Guardian comments and they're not that bad ? Most are having a go at the clickbait article title.

As a general rule, Guardian comment sections on music are almost entirely negative towards the subject - it does not matter who the subject is, it's just how it is in the UK section at least.

I made the mistake of mostly focusing on the top comments but to be fair there were a lot of defenders in the nested comments.
Good to see they're pissing people off enough to make them comment.

The vitriol is there! It's still there for those with a burning desire to log-in and post less than a sentence worth that they must let everyone else know how shit the band are.
But good to see they had plenty of defenders.
