Looks like the days of CD singles and b-sides are gone then, sadly.

Aye, I think this week is the last we'll sadly see the album in the top 100 now 6 weeks in the top 100, about right as with the last two albums, but such a shame more people don't buy the Manics stuff anymore for them to hang around in the charts for a while longer, when you say stuff in there that's been around for literally YEARS without leaving!

I think the guys have made a good fist of this record promo in fairness. RTF/Futurology were both released in a very 1999 kinda way. The usual singles and videos etc. Whoever is behind the current campaign has got it pretty much spot on for the modern way of releasing stuff. Personally, I think once an album is out you should do a different mix of a song to release it as a single, ala HMLAH, or just an alternative mix of the original. When a "single" consists of a track on its own, there's little point releasing the standard album mix once the album is out. People can just go and find it as they fancy it. But yeah, it seems like there are two emerging ways of doing it now - you could drip feed songs in the run up to the record, which quite a lot of bands do. You can either drip the entire album, or just 1 track swiftly followed by the record proper. The one that seems to get more traction is the secret album. You get a lot of coverage and impact with that ("Band XXX Just dropped an album and it's SIIIIICK"), because of the BAM! effect of releasing an album completely out of the blue. Arguably you'd get more impact that way. Maybe they should do a gig for the next album and the only way you can hear it (first) is to be at the gig. Then the album is released instantly after that. Or something....

Happily it’s available losslessly on the likes of 7Digital, Qobuz...

Yay!
Public Service Broadcasting’s Hold Me Like A Heaven remix (thank you FD twitter): http://diymag.com/2018/05/31/manic-s...remiere-listen Like the Warm Digits one, also gorgeous. A crying shame this wasn’t all on a nice physical single release really... tempted to construct my own! (Edit: available to buy now in the usual places)

Both remixes are pretty cool. Can’t help but to also think about a physical release:
Just imagine a 12” EP: Side A 1. Hold me like a heaven 2. Hold me like a heaven - Warm digits remix 3. Hold me like a heaven - Public service announcement remix Side B 4. Hold me like a heaven (demo) 5. Concrete fields 6. Soundtrack to complete withdrawal It’d be great.

Shame they've not bothered to put out vinyl versions of the singles, I thought the Manics of all bands would still do that, there's still a lot of artists who do release their singles on vinyl. I know IB had a 7" release but I had no idea how you even bought it from, so oh well.
