A big rating thread
Waiting for RTW I'm listening to Manics very much...
1) rate all albums, b-sides (non-album) eras. 2) Pick three albums that means to you the most emotionally 3) Pick three albums that you like to listen to the least and say why 1-10, 1-worst 10-best. Both 1 and 10 have to be included in both albums and eras rating if you like ALBUMS: Generation Terrorists Gold Against the Soul The Holy Bible Everything Must Go This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours Know Your Enemy Lifeblood Send Away the Tigers Journal for Plague Lovers Postcards from a Young Man b-sides/non-album eras pre-Generation Terrorists era Generation Terrorists era Gold Against the Soul era The Holy Bible era Everything Must Go era This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours era Know Your Enemy era Forever Delayed era Lifeblood era Send Away the Tigers era Postcards from a Young Man era Emotional 3: Listen to the least 3:

I listened to it a lot, played all the songs on guitar, very emotional memories Journal for Plague Lovers - again released in a special time for me and amazed me musically. again I spent so much time playing the songs on guitar Listen to the least 3: Postcards - horrible album, I never listened to it 2011-now and probably never will listen to it again, trying to foget all the songs. Generation Terrorists - I like the album, I like the songs, but it was recorded badly, the drum machine, the bass, the overall sound, the length...it all prevents me from listening unfortunately - but not last weeks This is My Truth Tell Me Yours - what can I say, the songs are too poppy and too focused on be liked,

Littlesue I really really don't understand how and why you have never listened to B sides!!
Some of them (most) are outstanding and it makes me sad knowing what you're missing out on |

I think its from the past when I had the 45's. B sides were always crap then. Also I find it hard to listen to new music so can only just about manage to listen to an album nevermind all what comes with it!

Following the ignoring the OP trend (sorry Donkey) and giving straight up out-of-ten ratings.
ALBUMS: Generation Terrorists 6/10 Gold Against the Soul 6/10 The Holy Bible 9/10 Everything Must Go 8/10 This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours 8/10 Know Your Enemy 7/10 Lifeblood 8/10 Send Away the Tigers 7/10 Journal for Plague Lovers 10/10 Postcards from a Young Man 2/10 b-sides/non-album eras pre-Generation Terrorists era 6/10 Generation Terrorists era 5/10 Gold Against the Soul era 5/10 The Holy Bible era 7/10 Everything Must Go era 8/10 This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours era 9/10 Know Your Enemy era 7/10 Forever Delayed era 9/10 Lifeblood era 7/10 Send Away the Tigers era 8/10 Postcards from a Young Man era - haven't listened to any of it. Emotional 3: Lifeblood, it was important to me at a significant point in my life. This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours, came to me in the first flush of adolescent navel-gazing. Postcards From a Young Man, the emotion is shame and this gives it to me in abundance. Listen to the least 3: Postcards From a Young Man, because it's just awful. Everything Must Go, just not an album I reach for these days. Generation Terrorists, because it's aged horribly.

Shame it's ignored, it's a brain-demanding rule.

Well I could've done it but by arbitrarily assigning one a 10 and one a 1 it essentially boils down to ranking the records (again), and even the dreadful PFAYM isn't really a 1/10 record, nor are any of the b-side eras.

Generation Terrorists 8
Gold Against the Soul 8 The Holy Bible 10 Everything Must Go 7 This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours 5 Know Your Enemy 2 Lifeblood 6 Send Away the Tigers 8 Journal for Plague Lovers 7 Postcards from a Young Man 9 b-sides/non-album eras This is a brain demanding rule. I can't think what songs have been a b side to what and what era that places said side b and whether that era is considerably more favourable to that era so roughly in sort of order including songs that aren't technically b-sides but can be under the Misc. Era 4 ever delayed First republic Sepia Too cold here Just a Kid Lady lazarus Welcome to the dead zone Judge Y'self Bright Eyes Alien Orders/Invisible Armies Velocity Girl This is the Day Emotional 3: The Holy Bible. It was my Always Look on the Bright Side of Life at that time in a way Everything Must Go Probably cos after Holy Bible it's the release I remember most vividly....that time of year and the fact they were continuing Postcards....Cos it hit the right nerve at the time And because I wondered if after Journal they might be considering the end and this felt like they'd actually truly found their feet .... their Holy Bible second coming. Looking through all the other scores on this score you're clearly listening to some other version on another planet Listen to the least 3: Know Your Enemy cos why put meself through the whole thing when y'can just skip to the coupla tracks I like. I don't want to know my enemies. This Is My Truth....I'm not keen on around half of it. That's my truth. And. My favourite one The Holy Bible. Because. It is bleak. And if you spend too long looking into the abyss it will look back into you. The band made Lipstick Traces just for you. All in one neat tin. No need to try to play the flip side of those CDs anymore.
