I'm Just a Patsy - Who's Singing that line?
For Christmas, I got my hubby a copy of Send Away the Tigers on vinyl, because he's a record junkie. While listening to it last night, we started having a debate about "I'm Just a Patsy." I searched the forum to see if this had been answered already but got overwhelmed by 500+ hits, so if this has been answered please point me in the right direction.
Anyway, about 2 minutes into the studio version of the song, there's that "stomping" music bit, and then someone sings out, like they're in a tunnel, "I'm just a patsy." I always assumed it was a sample from a movie or something. My DH is convinced that it's Sean shouting that line. Checking out live versions of the song on YouTube, James' is shouting that line, but it doesn't sound like him to me on the album. Does anyone know? Does anyone care other than us? Please help bring harmony back to our marriage! We're not REALLY fighting about this, but now I'm damn curious!

You're right, doesn't quite sound right from that clip. Had a look through clips from JFK but I didn't find that bit. Sounds more likely though.

I think it is from a film...?

And isn't the sample slowed down to fit the music as well? It's nowhere near the right tone of a normal voice let alone Oswald shouting out to the press? Unless he was on some heavy meds?

Yes, it was Lee Harveys last public words.
Nicky said that the film company wanted £10's of thousands for that quote so they got the actualy News audio from American Archives i think (link expired for source) |

But is the line slowed down or does it sound like that in the film?

It sounds pretty similar from my memory, it's just got a bit of reverb on it.

Thanks, everyone. I knew I could count on the FDers! My husband was so crushed when I told him, he was so hoping it was Sean.
