Manics - Live 8?
After watching some Live 8 YT vids and trying to research on Google, did the Manics get asked or turn down Live 8??
Any info thank in advance, just curious to know. |

But hadn't they taken a break around the time of 2005? (Great timing...)

they would've still played that fucking place though.... They were on the bill on for One Earth for Jan 2006 when that went tits up.

I think they wouldn't have been asked. The bill was pretty much the biggest selling acts in the world at the time or real music legends on a global level (with the exception being bloody Geldof of course), and the Manics were simply not that then.
Also I am sure Nicky called Geldof a twat or something along those lines at some point |

I seem to remember an interview, maybe around the time of SATT, where they said they hadn't been asked but wouldn't have done something like that anyway. Could be very wrong about that though!

Live 8 was a shite gig so I'm glad they weren't there.

Considering how Nicky's ripped Coldplay and the Beastie Boys for hypocritical charity involvement (or something along those lines - I remember Free Tibet and Make Trade Fair being mentioned), I'd think the Manics would shy away from charity gigs. Or am I off base? |
