I drove past a guy in Coventry once who could have doubled for Richey - doesn't mean it was him though, but if I find that Sean Moore and Paul Merton are in fact the same people then I might reconsider.

Haha, my erstwhile film studies/english teacher had the misfortune of being called Rick James, being Welsh (sounding English), looking roughly like Richey and being thick enough to spot the manics badge on my bag and admit he was a fan... Although saying that, he never actually said he was a fan, just that he felt old. He did have to put up with us attempting to stare at his arms on the one occasion he wore elbow length sleeves... would've felt sorry for him if he weren't such a wanker!

If Richeys alive the truth is hes going to be far away where he can never be found because coming back would create more pain, more question and more arguments for friends and relatives as well as hoards of media and fan attention. I don't believe for a second that he would have become a mechanic, more likely hes travelling with the said group of hippies in Goa or something along those lines at least, however the reality is, dead or alive he is not going to turn up round our local corner shops buying fags booze and razor blades and signing things with the surname Edwards. And if anyone has a ricey autograph they may have the sense to check the handwriting to quash this rumour.

I just believe, if the person in question thought it was him, would have done something else other than wait 6 years.

I'd like to think that if the person was that convinced it was Richey, they'd have perhaps mentioned it to the police or done a bit more about it.

That said, he was Welsh, had the surname Edwards and bought cigarettes and vodka. I don't know about you lot, but I'm getting on a train to Nottingham, armed with some Plath poetry to lure him home...
