5 Years Ago Today...

i saw the manics live for the first time, wembley arena with razorlight supporting, did anyone on here go to that gig?

was a fucking excellent show.. 1985 to open followed by all the classics

i think this is why i lean towards lifeblood as my favourite album

whats the general feeling towards lifeblood on here?

Yeah I was there, it's not one of my favourite Manics gigs that I have attended but a ruddy good night was still had.

Ha, this thread just reminded me that exactly two years ago today was my first ever proper Manics gig apart from the tiny Q Awards set thing, Bournemouth 09/12/07 (I think it was the 9th anyway, maybe it was the 10th).

1985, 4 Ever Delayed, Roses In The Hospital ad Slash N Burn. By their standards that was a great setlist.

I wasn't at Webley but I was at Nottingham a few nights later..... went mental and some man kept lifting me up as I danced, was rather weird experience seeing that I was a 18 yo straight lad, funny though. And even though Lifeblood's not really my kinda music I have an affection for it as it reminds me of that period of my life.

I was there and still think it was brilliant. No Surface All Feeling and the Enola/Alone-Die In The Summertime couplet was amazing, two of my most favourite songs. The less-well recieved Lifeblood songs also meant there was a chance to catch some breath in between the classics, it's hard to pogo for almost a whole set!

Omg, I'd love to see any of those live...not that I can complain; I've only seen them the once and I can't blame them at all for playing the huge hits in North America as they hadn't come for ten years, I just counted myself lucky to see any of the songs live!

Wembley was fun - we ate Lidl biscuits and made a cardboard box replica of Jilly Britton - also it was the start of the epic 69 hours no sleep marathon when we went weird(er).

The gig before it in Dublin was my favourite of that tour though. I think Lifeblood live was a bit 50:50 some of the songs didn't translate that well but things like Solitude Sometimes Is, Cardiff Afterlife, I live to fall asleep,... I really enjoyed

It was also the only time I've seen a song-stoppage at one of their gigs, during I Live To Fall Asleep.

It was a great gig, especially when you know I was in Belgium, teaching, at 4 pm, but managed to get in Wembley in time, just before the doors closed. Just got in, lights went out, and the manics started with 1985- my favourite song ever.

I remember Brighton (on December 4th - first night of the tour) being really great. I was so deliriously excited. It was such a great performance.

I was there! Had a great night as ever, but wasn't convinced the Lifeblood songs were working live. I've come to appreciate the album, but when stood on stage the boys need to let rip. It was frustrating watching them hold it back...

I wish I'd seen them on that tour! I remember hoping that tickets wouldn't sell out before I got paid, but alas they did. My mate went and I remember quizzing him about it all the day after. That winter was such a good time, and Lifeblood was the perfect soundtrack. Easily their 2nd best album.

As a pop record it's good, as a Manics album it's a big disappointment.
