Message on the gig postcard

Hi all.

Sorry if this has been posted (couldn`t find anything) but been away, and got back to find my gig postcard from the band about the forthcoming tour.

Am i the only one who thought the wording read as if this is the last album from the band? `So "Hey ho lets go" Time to tour- one last shot at mass communication

What does that mean??

It means this is their last attempt to achieve EMG-like relevance, not their last chance at making an album. It means they want to be popular and on the radio. Have no fear!

That it's their last attempt for big commercial success, not their last album.

I really don't understand why people think it means it's their last album. I always read an understood that message as meaning it's they're last go at cracking the charts etc.

Quite. Can we not make a 'What does the "one last shot at mass communication" statement mean?!!1one!!" sticky thread to stop people asking or something, please?

I think Nicky said that because he misses those constant "The Manics are splitting up!" rumours that used to come hot on the heels of every single scrap of Manics news.

Nah, let 'em squirm. I think it's pretty funny people are so desperate to think they're splitting, every album since 1994's been met with this sort of notion.

One day they will split and we'll feel bad

Nick: 'no seriously guys this is it, we're off, goodbye'
FD: 'Aw it's Nicky, he always says crazy shit like this, look at his skirt, aw'
Nick: 'Humph'

Even earlier, surely, or have we all forgotten their proclamations about splitting up after GT?
