Fuck yes. The highlight of that gig for me, that and the Father Christmas/Karl Marx pastiche.

Faster is a great song but there are parts of it I don't like

a) the way they don't open with the riff live (neee-nawwww, nee-nawwww)
b) the music that underpins the 'I am stronger than mensa..." section sounds wrong; the notes actually sound slightly off key and out of place in the song
c) the main riff harmony that exists for half of a verse only
d) there's a sustained guitar lead that MAKES the song that never gets played live (under the lyrics 'I am idiot drug hive, the virgin, the tattered and the torn')... they just play the chords and that totally kills it... same for "only to the cleansed repented"

Those are (musically) two of my favourite parts of Faster.

Revol is probably middle/bottom tier in Holy Bible terms for me but it's far from being a terrible song. If it is a lyrical issue (not knowing what Richey was trying to say) I could kind of understand them not wanting to play it but production issues wouldn't make any difference to them playing it live. So is it the song they hate or just the way it sounds on the album?

That bit is wicked. Wayne should learn it.

I can only assume that after all these years, they don't like that bit.

And b-sides that have never seen the light of day live.

it makes you wonder why no-one ever, y'know, *asked* Richey, 'could you explain that pile of disjointed phrases you're expecting me to sing/play along to?'

it's good fun, it's not the best song on THB by a long shot (Yes or Faster for me), but it doesn't deserve to be consigned to the Not-On-The-Setlist-Not-Ever pile either.

There was an interview with the NME when TIMTTMY was released wherein they labelled it absolute dogshit.

Out of interest, when they previously played Revol live (Forever Delayed and Past Present Future tours) did it get anything like this sort of response from the fanbase? Or was it a combination of the way it was played, the mid song breakdown and the video that got this response?

Well, the mid-song breakdown was one of the highlights of the gig. It also probably helped that even though they've played it on previous tours, it's never been played enough, so even people who have been to gigs on those tours probably hadn't seen it. For me, knowing that I had missed out on it on the PPF tour made it even more exciting to know I wasn't going to miss out this time.

I don't dislike it, but it's probably not even in my top twenty MSP songs. However, it reigned supreme at the O2, so it'll forever be just a bit more enjoyable to me now.
