Not the best, but it's pretty high up there! Seeing it live on Saturday definitely invigorated it for me, I'm listening to it more than I used to!

Actually, speaking of this, I do remember a tour (not sure which) where said bit was played. Might have been 2005 with t'other guy on backing guitar. I suppose that's what makes us boffins though, sometimes certain bits are played as on the record, others not.

i think the thing that sticks out which was probably accidental was the way that they did an impromptu (or so it seemed at the time) break before james launched into the guitar solo. it's things like that which make me love a gig. that's the thing about the manics, i thnk live they are brilliant but there really is no spontanaeity (i may have spelt that wrong). but still, for me, NT was one of the best gigs ever, i hope those in the know get this show together on youtube or something by chrimbo eve. please?

You are exactly right.

"Die In The Summertime", "P.C.P." and "Revol" have always been my faves on THB.... Always.

And besides: For me "Revol" is backed by the best video from the Manics to date.

...I'm so glad that I'd come all the way from Switzerland, together with my girlfriend, who had organised the tickets for us, to see them playing the O2!!! What a live experience!

I blasted out Revol on my CD player tonight and played along to the solo but I was a bit sad cos it didn't match up to the Goddamn fucking amazing performance of last weekend. I just wanted to re-live it again and jump around mentally and scream out the lyrics. Seriously, that 3+ minutes last weekend when they played Revol will live with me forever.

it's good fun, it's not the best song on THB by a long shot (Yes or Faster for me), but it doesn't deserve to be consigned to the Not-On-The-Setlist-Not-Ever pile either.
I so often agree with you. All of this.
That said, I've been bouncing around to Revol all day, so there's that.

Definitely not the best song on the album, but it is a strong one. Though, thinking about it, I think it only ranks above PCP, Of Walking Abortion, TIHOE, and She is Suffering for me... all of the songs are so brilliant.

I've also wondered why they never had Richey explain exactly what it meant. It drives me a bit insane because I know there's meaning there, and it's just really encrypted. I think much of it has to do with having nowhere near as much understanding of political history as Richey. There are a few parts that make a bit of sense, like "Kruschev, self love in his mirrors" and "Stalin, bisexual epoch," keeping in mind the drawn parallels between politics and relationships- the metaphors get a bit stretchy. But I'd need to do some serious research to even hazard a guess for most of them.

the NME named revol best track on the album somewhere on their website didnt they? It's not but i'm not thinking it's as ridiculous now. And James growling Raus! Raus! at the gig was dead sexy
