Next Compilation Album?

Now that the Manics have recorded their 10th album it's a pretty safe bet that there will be a new Greatest Hits album...
Should they stick to just another hits album, or do something similar to what Blur did with Midlife, mixing singles and cherry picked album tracks on a double album?

Also should they do a Lipstick Traces vol.2, maybe just b-sides from Forever Delayed/Lifeblood onwards or are there are still some b-sides that they shouldn't have missed off the last one that should be included?

I think a new greatest hits wont be far off, but i think it will be like Suede's new one

Disc 1 = the hit singles
Disc 2 = the band's favourite songs

I ve been listening to Lipstick traces recently and I have to say I'm not liking it as much as I once did. Instead of compilation I'd prefer a live album and DVD of the Mnachester gig (97) in it's entirety.

I'd certainly prefer a 'Best Of' to a 'Greatest Hits'.

I'm assuming they'll take next year off, then come back in 2012 with a new album, alongside a Generation Terrorists 20th anniversary re-issue, and put out a new 'Best Of' album the year after.

Regards,
Marwood.

A double CD:
'A best of'
and
'B-sides' or 'Manics live' (or both )

If they still think putting radio edits (or indeed edits of radio edits) on an album is a good idea, they may as well not do anything.

If, however, they have seen the error of their ways, whatever the comp is, it needs to come ASAP and get that FD mofo deleted.

It'll be like FD but with Autumnsong, YLAINE, INWJTEOL and SKON on it. Maybe they'll shoehorn in a couple of brand new tracks. The Manics don't do album tracks.

What about a compilation album of album tracks only?

Well, that would also be a perfect opportunity to tour with a standard 'greatest hits' setlist instead of the varied and eclectic sets we've been getting lately.

Regards,
Marwood.

Just so long as they don't trim the songs down like on FD.

It should be like Blur's Midlife: the best known singles (but also a few hits left out, in Blur's case Country House) and selected album tracks on 2 CDs. But it'd probably be FD + Empty Souls, YLAINE, Autumnsong, JCEQT and INWJTEOL.

I'd like to see a properly curated "Essential" compilation, similar to the ones you can buy right now, 2CDs of the bands best songs, a few album tracks and the key singles.

True, the Suede one has got an odd selection of tracks on it, but 2CDs worth of Manics stuff would be good.
