Oh the madness is about to start, interviews, photo-shoots, new press shots, gig dates and frantically trying to get tickets and organise things. Got to love the Manics and the build up to a new album (or Two; thank you, thank you, thank you!!)

Woo! Sort of. Bloody awful line-up. But I do love the build up to a new album.

Wonder how long it'll be before they announce a full Autumn/Winter tour?

Re: Manics to play Hyde Park Live in September

Yay Simple Minds. Hyde Park is a bad venue but it looks like a nice day out, and the Manics will be ace as ever.

Radio 2 and Hyde Park are made for a heavily acoustic set.
I'm not sure that's necessarily true. It could be pre-album promo.

Indeed, they often play festival gigs pre-album. See Empty Souls at IOW 4 months prior to Lifeblood, they had plenty of time to fuck that up prior to the record coming out.

Eeeeh, don't think I'm going to bother trying for tickets for this. Yawnsome line-up and, as others have said, the whole 'festival exclusive' surely ties this to not being a 'proper' appearance? Hope those who do go enjoy it, an acoustic set would be interesting (especially if a new song gets thrown in), but not worth the cost/trek to London for me.

Think I'll sit this one out, due to the expense of ANOTHER trip to London, I'm seeing them in Wales the following weekend anyway, a tour is bound to be announced soon-ish and I have zero interest in seeing the other acts, especially Jamie Cullum (I'm sure it was someone on FD who once referred to him as a 'Jazz Hobbit' and that's what I now refer to him as) But to those who do go, enjoy!

Wow, this is pretty out of the blue... I'd be amazed if the Manics didn't headline this, Radio 2 love them! And they love ADFL, so a finale with A Design For Life and fireworks would be perfect!! Plus the Manics are the biggest band there, and will have the most to promote with the new album soon

Yes, if I had to choose between flying to Cardiff or London I'd go to Cardiff to see them. Saw them in both places before and Cardiff gigs are always much more special.

Nicky's about 1hr 48 in, just before he was about to do the school run

Talks a bit about the new album, looks like it's definitely called Rewind The Film, out in September, next one out April/May, looking to play 1 or 2 new tracks at this gig.

Concrete plans then for releasing both albums! Excited fangirl is muchly excited!
I'll wait for a proper tour to be announced, though, the line-up is so not my ballgame that it doesn't lure me out of the West Country, not even for two new songs (possibly).
Also, is it just me who thinks it's a bit of a dishonest decision to promote Festival 6 as an exclusive and the perfect comeback location, then decide to play a festival in London a week before?

Excellent news. Couldn't make the gig in Wales and we're getting something in London finally!
