Not a bad idea. I'm already far too excited about 30 Year War. I've already convinced myself it's going to be the greatest song of all time.

If 30 Year War is as good as everyone is saying then it's a wise choice for the next single (as confirmed by Nicky in an interview a few weeks ago).

did he confirm it? I thought we just guessed it would be that one when he said the next video would be set in the 80s

Pretty sure he said "for the next single" when referring to the video.

That's very true! He did drop some big clues though. I should shut up before people start accusing me of speculating without any firm evidence again.

well I guess a video set in the 1980s could be about one of the other songs, that don't refer to '30 years' in the title… but it would seem a missed opportunity if so! I would think it's a pretty safe bet.

If it leaks, I'll listen to it, and buy it on multiple formats afterwards (as most of the forumites over here do).

I still believe a leak of an outstanding album is good for the popularity of an artist. It creates a 'hype' (spotify, youtube, facebook etc etc).
If the album is shite on the other hand no-one will bother about it when it really comes out.

So excited thanks to these track by track reviews! Roll on!

Let's face it, we're fucking mugs when it comes to the Manics. We'll buy the album and single(s) in all formats possible/signed and unsigned. They should forget about release dates and just let the fans have what they want when they want, since the damn thing is going to sell regardless.

Manorbier is lovely but would benefit from a vocal. 3 ways to see despair is awesome with a FUCKING great vocal from James. The best track by a country mile is 30 Year War. My god it is fucking breathtaking. Imagine hearing Tolerate for the very first time but add in the sonics of Motorcycle Emptiness with the spit in your face and piss on your chips lyrics of THB. I never thought the band could write an important song again but 30YW is that song. After this album I'd like to know what the fuck the band were doing with SATT and Postcards. This is not just a good album but one of the Great Manics albums.

The album isn't really all that acoustic. There is a lot of electronics going on, some electric guitar. It's a mature album, the lyrics are great but it all feels genuine too. No agenda or boxes to tick. I will do a track by track review once I get a copy for the night. For now, prepare to be moved, surprised and excited.

Only 2 weak tracks in RWF and As Holy As The Soil.

Tokyo Skyline is mesmerising and moved me a lot.
Yeah I like 30 YEARS OF WAR, not sure it's a single but it's superb even if the 'What Will be Done?' bit is a tad SYMM in its lyrical vagueness...Agree on 3 ways to look at Despair genuinely moving, great vocal performance from James with a bit of falscetto....Yeah it's not really a proper 'acoustic' album is it? Plenty of strings, brass, synths..
