I still can't get over how Bowie recorded and released an album without anyone saying anything, don't know if that leaked but I didn't hear it till I bought it. Think I heard the last three albums at least a month before they came out.

If you wanna talk about the album why not the album thread? Leak or legit, it'll sound the same either way if you wanna discuss the album sound.

Even so! All it'd have taken was a sound engineer, taxi driver, cleaner or some total randomer to say "ooh, guess who I've just seen going into the studio" or "hmm, what's Tony Visconti doing at David Bowie's house?" or whatever. It seemed to be commonly accepted that Bowie had retired on the quiet, and for a man who's spent as much time in the public eye as he has done, to have such a massive following, that makes it even more amazing. Lad can't even buy a sandwich without someone making a news story out of it.

yea but he doesn't live in the gossip mags and had been quiet for years. The album was recorded at home i believe.

Aye I know, but I still consider it an amazing feat to have kept it quiet especially given the way social networking has move on since his last album.

well, Visconti and Bowie have been friends for longer than most of us here have been alive. Tony popping in at Dave is not exactly an unusual event, all the more so in NY where he is pretty much left alone, bar the odd gasp when he strolls down the street.

at home in as far as the state of the art studio he has built in it, yes!

i would suspect some of the press knew he was "up to something", but didn't dare rumble anything lest it ruin any chance of an interview with him later. in general, though, every time Duncan Jones makes a film there's the theory that his Dad would make some contribution to the soundtrack. add to that the various remasters and reissues over the last decade and the sight of him in a studio wouldn't immediately scream "he is working on new material".

as for the gossip mags, well despite the bizarre rumours around since his health scare he has hardly been a recluse. frequently he's been out and about at gigs and art exhibitions, it's just that oddly his wish for privacy and not plastering his family all over the magazines has been respected.

back on point somewhat, and out of curiosity i have had a nose around all the usual corners of the internet where such a thing as a leak would appear, and not a thing. well done on the security front, then. tbh i am not fussed, the release is what a week away?
