Had a feeling it would be those songs (4 singles + Hold Me Like A Heaven and People Give In). Only thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of TIMT tracks which they said they would play. Horses Under Starlight, great but hardly a brilliant song in my opinion - could have played any other curio instead. Really glad to see Forever Delayed back in the setlist though.

Hoped with them going on earlier and doing less but bigger gigs we’d be looking at longer sets. All over, 40 minutes ahead of curfew, starting to feel a bit ripped off.

Been a couple of Peeled Apples, JCEQT and Me & Stephen Hawkin since. Positive I’ve read an interview where the band has said they don’t enjoy playing it.

Forever Delayed was a nice surprise.

Starlight and the forum's namesake. I imagine Robeson might be rotated. My fears of the band ignoring the 2nd half of RiF have borne fruit sadly...

Yep, just seen they’ve played Design For Life.

Genuinely thought we were looking at 28-30 songs given the advertised stage times.

They might change the TIMT tracks as the tour goes on. Well maybe one

James's voice won't hold out for super long sets probably. It was a standard length .. they were on at 8:45

22-23 songs is what they usually do.

Can't decide which song is more ridiculous: YSTS or Show Me the Wonder?

Were the Coral any good? I remember them being quite impressive in 2003 at festival slot just prior to my first Manics performance.

Presumably they’ll rotate Horses under Starlight and Forever Delayed with other songs at some point in the tour. Interesting to see two GT songs back to back. Plus two KYE songs and nothing off Postcards.

Initial reaction... very disappointing setlist, probably their weakest ever in the years I’ve been seeing them. The usual suspects dragged out, a show for the first-timer rather than the longer term fan.

It's a very Gavin Fitzjohn heavy set isn't it? Are we missing any other trumpet tracks? Could we see the return of Everything will be?

I was pretty happy with the setlist; really wasn't expecting to see Horses Under Starlight, and Slash n Burn was a pleasant surprise too. Pleased to get some KYE other than Ocean Spray, too; I wouldn't have requested Let Robeson Sing, but I enjoy it and can see why it might feel relevant at the moment. Disappointed not to see 30-Year War as I've never got to see it live, but, other than that, it was good to see a few unexpected songs plus the usual ones.

I think the Arena did quite well with the space, considering tickets not sold etc. Wish they'd accept they're not arena size, though; it'd be great to see them in the Sage.

Would’ve made sense, wouldn’t it? They’re on 13 albums now and four of them haven’t even had a look in and three of em only had one song each. Over half the catalogue getting three songs..

Nice to see Forever Delayed and Slash N Burn come back, Horses Under Starlight is a nice curveball. I know it’s only first night and I know they can swap shit around but feeling quite underwhelmed with this set.

It was a standard length yeah, just thought the earlier start and expanding discography might’ve pointed towards a longer set, that’s all. I’m sure James’ voice can hold out for an extra four or five songs, it’s not like they’re doing Mausoleum and Yes, slung an instrumental in and a selection of duets depending on Anchoress availability...
