What does 'achieves of pain' say about the Manic's views towards capital punishment? - Forever Delayed

I imagine you guys can give a far bigger debate that I can on this. Did we ever find the motivations and intensions of this song? it's complete right wing anti life stance just doesn't fit with other Manic songs. I find it hard to believe this song practices the extent of what it preaches.

In saying that it's still my favourite of THB...even though I disagree with it.

According to JDB it is about the point where right & left wing behaviour crosses over. It's in the Guitarist magazine with JDB on the front.

Nicky: That was the song that me and Richey worried about the most, and did the most work on. It was written as a reaction to the glorification of serial killers. In 'Silence Of The Lambs', Hannibal Lecter is made into a hero in the last scene of the film - people feel sorry for them. It's like that line from Therapy? 'Now I know how Jeffrey Dahmer feels'. I don't f***ing want to know how Jeffrey Dahmer feels, and I think it's quite appalling to put yourself in that position. Everyone gets a self-destructive urge the urge to kill, but I don't particularly like the glorification of it.
There's a book by Marcel Foucault with a chapter called 'Archives Of Pain'. Richey and I did that book at university, and it had quite an influence on us. It talks about the punishment matching the crime. But the song isn't a right-wing statement, it's just against this fascination with people who kill. A lot of people don't like to see rapists getting off with a £25 fine.

In addition to this, they (and by 'they' I mean Richey) spoke about capital punishment regarding Repeat (Stars & Stripes) and Richey said something like 'all humans have equal rights.', which I guess was against capital punishemnt?! but who knows?

"There's a line, 'Give him the respect they deserve' - it's obvious the only thing these people (named in the song) respect is death - so give them respect too."

well, it's interesting that there is *one* thing I don't agree with the Manics on. haha. being against capital punishment alltogether, no exceptions, and all.

this wouldn't strike me as complete bullshit if the band hadn't done celebrations of a ficticious paedophile (R.P. McMurphy) and arguably the most sinister psychopath in literature (Patrick Bateman).

put Nicky in a room with a car battery, some jump leads and the individual who decided to put PFAYM on the internet before the release date.
